I am officially over the sheep.
as some of you know, the next door neighbour's sheep escaped from next door and are now grazing on our section. our place could be subdivided into another three sections so that can give you an idea about how big it is. things have rapidly gone downhill however.
Day one: the guy came over and took 30 minutes to herd them home. they go past his rabid pitbull, striaght back through the fence to my place. he leaves them
day two: guy comes over.
him"hi"
me: "hi"
(akward silence)
h: I'm going to make a lot of noise"
me" uh huh
(a-s)
h: do you have babies?
m: yes
jh: is that okay
m: fine, they are both awake
h: giggle
(a-s)
h: my sheep...they...ahhh....like grass
m: yes they do.
h: continues to stand there
m: well....better go
h: yes (continues to stand there)
m: close the door and leave.
h stands there a reamining minute or so.
I wait for him to leave then lock the door. Rang lewis who said that the whole family is a little weird - inbredding he reckons.
so guy comes over and starts chopping off the branches of the trees - the trees are on his side, but he cuts of the branches on our side. he is chainsawing - obviously this is what he means by "making some noise". he sees me looking a waves. I try not to give into the sudden need to pull my curtains at 1pm in the afternoon. he cuts the branches and drags them around. then leaves them. they are still there.
later that day: two other guys and dogs come into the section. they attempt to herd sheep. all in going okay, but mother sheep keeps attacking the dogs. One guy picks up the lamb and GIVES IT TO THE DOG, If the dog had attacked it I would've rang SPCA, but it didn't. sniffed it and then got a head butt from the mother. guys leave. sheep still in my yard, albeit in a corner. they soon spread out.
day three: sheep now treat yard as own. they leave "deposits" everywhere and eat all my veges. I decide to go over and get guy to pick up sheep and repair fence. I walk over and see the "paddock" that the sheep were living in - shared with rabid pitbull, a menacing goat and NO GRASS!!! no wonder they came over to us. So now I can't send them back cause it would basically result in them starving to death, or being eaten by the dog. and ringing the spca is a bit scary cause the guy is clearly not there./ so am now living with the sheep and will ring SPCA when i leave.\
Oh, and here's the best bit - di you know sheep snort and grunt? well, they do. outside my bedroom window all night. and lambs bleat....loudly.
and I have a cold.

Oh no you poor thing regarding the noises the sheep make when trying to sleep that would have to be the only thing I don't miss about living on a farm at least it's not weaning time is all I can say.
I reckon you should ring the SPCA too that is not good having no feed especially in winter time.
Yes I also Laughed at the inbred comment.

Yup, me too.
Glad the sheep are gone tho, and that you will soon be escaping the inbred neighbours. Hope the Palmy locals are a bit more selective who they breed with

the latest update is we lost the house we thought we had!!! the real estate agent said that the house was available immediately and Lewis said awesome, we want it. then today he rang up and asked if we could put off moving a week - well we can;t - our driver can only move this weekend, and the current tenant is "having trouble finding a place" - too bad I said, but the "professional" real estate man said sorry! So we had to sign another place. not as nice apparently but cheaper...and it has a herb garden and a vege agrden and a greenhouse..and a mandarin and lemontree! so thats cool. and a log fire too i just remembered. oh, excited now. so not too bad news. would be a bit more stressed if we hadn;t had the other place in reserve.

Sounds like the new new place might be even better - rent is cheaper and everything else (fruit, heating) might be cheaper too. Yay!
