Does you child have many friends??
Ethan is 11 months old and goes to my mum during the week because I work. But he doesn't have friends or other children to interact with. None of mine or daniels friends have kids so Ethan doesn't get that time. I am going to try and take him to playcentre one day a week but am having trouble finding time. Are there any playgroups or music and movement groups your Mum could take him to? thats what I used to do with

I work full time - have you considered putting him into day care, even for a session or two a week? My daughter has been going since she was about 1 and really enjoys it. She goes 4 days a week and gets far more stimulation and interaction with other kids than I could ever offer her at home. It's good too because we aren't planning on having another in the near future (maybe 4-5 years if even then) so I don't feel guilty about her not having that interaction with other children. ------------- http://lilypie.com">

| What area are you in? I know that your mum could join PORSE to go to their playgroups etc. - because she would be considered a family educator (not open to parents though) - might be worth looking into? |

I am in exactly the same situation as you. It's hard when you work fulltime. My parents look after Matthew during the day & are fantastic with him - take him to the park, to feed the ducks etc, but I'm a bit loathe to sign him up for playcentre or mainly music because I don't want Mum feeling like she is tied into something & has to take him if there are other things she wants to do. My friends are only just starting to have kids, so they're all a lot younger than Matthew. I don't know that he's disadvantaged by not having lots of friends his age though as he interacts really well with other kids when he's at the playground or that, but I do feel a bit stink sometimes that he hasn't got friends. ------------- http://lilypie.com">  http://lilypie.com">

When I worked fulltime I had Andrew in daycare and that way he got his the child interation. He still ahs his friend Holly who have known each other since birth (she is 3 weeks younger than him). I would suggest seeing if you can get him into a daycare for their min session requirement. ------------- I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived! |

When I looked after Caitlyn I worked as a family educator through the PORSE network as Faraway suggested and took her to their playgroup and our own church playgroup.
Music and Movement was through another church Barnardos,Jemmas and Porse he would get other children from but I suppose your Mum enjoys looking after him |
