The Smith & Caughey sale started today and in a moment of weakness I was sucked into the vortex of middle aged women who are clearly "ladies who shop & lunch"....and ended up buying baby things!!! Yikes!!! They are very cute, and I was pretty self controlled under the circumstances....but it was crazy in there and once you are in very hard to get out!!!

Good discounts though - the perfume seemed to be the best bargains, and the shoes.......prob worth a look if you feel like shopping!

I caved too & went in this morning. The baby section (and all others) were complete carnage but I managed to stay long enough to buy a few baby clothes. I really wanted to look at the lingerie but I'd had more than enough by then.

I ended up getting $170.00 worth of clothes (& a baby towel set) for $68 so I can't complain too much

I havent shopped in their sales since i bought a paid of christian dior stick up stockings for a school ball once - I was so scared of laddering them all night long...think they were $45 on sale - a lifetime ago!!!

Do they still do their high teas in the CBD store...might be an Ella experience in a few years if they do!

BS - I think they do still do afternoon tea at the CBD store, but think the best place for that these days is at the Stamford Plaza. They do an amazing afternoon tea (its not cheap, but pretty special!!)

I worked at S&C for a while.
I was there when they had their main sale....oh my gosh people cued down the street an hour before it opened.
People would run in as soon as the doors opended. There were a few accidents of people falling down the stairs.

There sale just brings the price down to reality......can find some good things. Also if you wait till the day before they have further reductions....making it a real sale

I've seen High Tea at the Stamford Plaza reviewed in the Herald and it's apparently impressive!
