I went into a well known furniture shop in auckland on 7th July (i know as it was our anniversary!) and paid a deposit on some drawers for the babies room, they told us at the time that we would be looking at 6-8 weeks for delivery - which I was fine with, as that was looking to be towards the end of august at the latest. I rang them today to just follow up and see if they had a delivery date yet, and I was advised that our order had only just been put into the system yesterday and that the stock wasnt even coming into NZ until late September and then it could be up for a fortnight until we actually get the drawers....arghhhh...not happy at all. This is not what they told us, and they have really annoyed me now.

Complained to the manager and he is going to try and get a definite delivery date for me, but too be honest I am not happy about leaving it so close to when the baby arrives - I want to get the nursery set up. Am I being unreasonable?

I don't blame you SimSam - I would be the same!! We had heaps of trouble with a couch that we bought at the beginning of the year & I was shocked by the lack of service!
Espcially cos you want to get the nursery sorted, I would really tell them about it! Kick up a stink

You are well within your rights to be annoyed, that IMO is shoddy service and I would press them for something more than a 'definite' (yet delayed) delivery date - and take your business elsewhere if they refuse to be more helpful.

I would be wild SimSam! Don't they know how important it is that you get the nursery set up BEFORE the baby arrives? I would be having firm words with them and if they can't deliver, take your business elsewhere!
