Ok, we will be heading up to Auckland in September when bubs is about 4-5weeks old. We are hoping to get a rental car so we can get around. Has anyone used ones that provide baby seats or are they all for older babies? Also somewhere (cant remember which) said the car has a baby bolt so I guess we can bring our own seat and install it in there.

Any suggestions??

We have a convertible seat, not a capsule

check with the rental car people - we took our capsule / pod to chch cause we couldnt find anyone with a car seat for under 6 month olds.

if you get stuck I will loan you our pod for the week.

thanks BS will keep that in mind although I think we might be able to beg steal or borrow from family it just means having to get people to meet us at the airport and that is a hassle noone needs.

When we hired the car up on the Gold Coast the carseats they gave us were convertible. They had installed them forward facing so we used them that way out of laziness, but had the gremlins been younger I could have turned them rear facing. I guess just ring around.

We hired a car when we went to CHC, we found the company to be fantastic! The seat was more than we could have asked for. It was obviously used but in very tidy condition. It certainly was secure and had been bolted in as we would have expected.

I work by the airport and if you want I can go and check it out for you.

Amy, which company did you use in Chc? They probably have an Akl branch.

We used Hertz. We have used them maybe 3 times now ourselves and my parents use them heaps as they travel there at least once a month.

They have some really good specials too!

My friend came to visit me a couple of weeks ago and she had a rental car. Some of them you can't put the babyseat in the back seat, but for all of them you can put the convertible carseats in the front seat. I guess you could ask if they can provide one with a carseat?

I thought the front seat would be totally out as most cars have airbags now.

You could either bring your own or contact someone from babyonthemove.co.nz and have one pre arranged? They're a lovely bunch and will make sure you get one that fits your car :)
