Over the past 3 days Daniel will be screaming cause he's hungry but when he's given food (boobie) all he does is bite me. It freakin hurts!!!!! Doesn't matter if I have milk on my nipple, or if I squirt some into his mouth first so he gets a taste. Then when he finally starts sucking he will continue biting me every minute or so. He won't take boobie with a nipple sheild. And it's obvious that he is actually hungry because he will suck on a finger or bottle. But I don't wanna be giving him a bottle much because I don't want him to get lazy on the boob.

He's been to the docs, there's nothing physically wrong with him that he can find. Plunket thought he might have an ear infection but doc said nope.

The weird thing is that he won't do this at every feed, just sometimes. He bit me so hard the other night that he got a nice taste of my blood.

What could be causing this? and how can I stop it? My nipples can only take so much biting before they are gonna end up very cracked and sore.

ETA: he's also been to an osteopath who said he's fine and didn't do anything to him other than give him a little massage (not to do anything, just cause it felt nice) since he couldn't help us.

I don't think its just impatience because when he's impatient he really jumps at my boob

Maybe he's teething . But i'm thinking it may be a new thing he has learnt to do.

yep and its the reaction from you thats making him do it more. oooh that makes mum yelp, thats funny, lets do it again!!. When he starts to bite, try really hard not to yelp, quickly unlatch him and take him off and use a firm voice saying NO. He will get the picture soon that he dosne't get any food if he bites (so don't offer bottle or finger either) Char has been doing it as well, but I think I can safely say hers was teeth related, but I think he may be a bit wee for that yet.

I read somewhere that you take him off, tell him NO and put him down on the floor for a minute or two then try again. Do this each time he bites.

Who know's where I read it, or if it works!!!!

Use a rolled newspaper, smack him on the nose and in a firm voice say "NO! BAD BABY!"

JOKING!

I have no good advice, lots of warm wishes though hehe!

OMG Peace, for a minute there I thought you were serious!!!  ROTFL... now!

Taking Ella off and saying a firm "no" and putting her on the floor (facing away, no toys) for a minute helped me.  I hope he stops soon... ouch!
