Ok, you probably have guessed that I am going insane with waiting and I have only just hit my due date. DH reckons I will go soon as I have been showing "signs" for a few days now. I'm not sure I have or that they mean anything.
I did have a major nesting thing happen on Saturday which was totally out of character.....but that hasnt carried on
Today and yesterday i feel totally exhausted and want to sleep. I have gone off a lot of foods in the last day or 2.
I feel a little titchy...like PMT
Physically...not very much, no show, no waters breaking. Yes to BH but only at night. Yes to pain and discomfort down there if I walk around a lot.
So I ask....what signs did you have in the days leading up to labour????

Yeah I had that discomfort, unfortunately for a couple of weeks, but I pushed and pushed myself to keep walking in hope that Kryssi would come early. Especially once I had a hindwater leak AND strep B and they starting talking about inductions eek! But she still wasn't to be hurried, although I am pretty lucky in having her arrive on her EDD not two weeks later like Miss Ella
The baby's movements slowed for the 2 days prior to labour, I didn't have diahorrea but was a bit more soft and frequent. Had heavier discharge for about 3-4 days before labour as well (kept on checking for waters trickling because it kept feeling a bit wet).
The sleep sleep sleep wish was just like that from 38 weeks for me.

What about baby's movements lessening? I've read that that is a sign of impending labour "babies movements seem less frequent"
Only thing is, this worries me!!!! Haven't felt bubs since around 7.30am this morning

I had a "false start" on friday night with contractions every 4-5mins lasting almost a minute for a few hours but it fizzled out over the night, then nothing saturday day, then saturday night I was feeling uncomfy, sunday morning (about 1am) I was woken by contractions and had him at 11am that morning

Yup Daniel decreased his movement big time leading up, I had to go up to hospital to be monitored because I was only getting a couple of movements a day and MW just wanted to be careful.

I had felt a bit titchy and edgy both times, you know like you just can't sit still - you wanna ge tup and run around or something, but i tend to get like that when i am bored and sick of sitting or waiting anyway, With Paris i was gettinglotsof tightenings, had folded and re-folded and rearranged everything in her drawers, our rooms, the cupboards the labour bag.. a million times, and with ayja i had been sitting at home for 2 weeks beforehand then decided that day to go and finish off all the stuf fi needed to do in town and pick up paris from daycare, and walk all around doing stuff, made me feel not so bored and felt really good, then i went into labour that night.

The other thing to do with a non-moving bubs is take a cold drink of water then lay down for 1/2 hr. If you don't feel anything within that time, call your mw cause she can run the doppler over for reassurance.

Conor was induced at exactly 40weeks, I think it was the night before my due date... I just remember feeling anxious on the days leading up to it.
With Nyah I had a false alarm on the Monday; for the days after that, I could barely walk, I was really tired and slept the day away while Conor was at school. Then on the Saturday, I was doing the washing, and doing household chores etc. I had a few period pains, my waters broke at 3.30, and she was born by 4.30...

I was depressed. I cried my little heart out thinking I was never going to have my baby. I'd seen my midwife in the morning and she was sure I was going to be induced in another 10days. I ate a king size block of chocolate, went to bed at 11pm and woke 3hrs later with pretty bad contractions.

I showed no signs at all of going into labour. I was due to be induced on the Monday, and I woke up Monday at 5am with my first contraction.
I didn't even have a show until the midwife was rough with me while examing, and my waters had to be broken in labour.
My bubs decreased in movement a few weeks before birth.

With Maya I got the runs the day before, and just had a 'feeling' she was going to come soon, even tho I was only 38 weeks and the midwife said she wasn't ready to come yet.
With the gremlins I was induced, so have no idea, but I did have a show a couple of days before I was induced, so who knows, they might have turned up soonish even if they hadn't been served an eviction notice.

my mum and dp got the nesting urges, I didn't tho lol.
I got so tired I could barely do anything the week before and then I got a bit more energy. Had a s&s sweep then went for walk, then had special cuddles. Woke up the next day with the sorest pelvis and period like pains and went into labour that night.
With Jack I had so many false starts and show coming out it was ridiculous.
TMI but a few days b4 I started getting heaps of discharge like an oyster amount every time I wiped

The night before I went into labour, we had friends over for dinner. I was cooking a curry, and I remember being so tired I couldn't stand up at the stove, and asking one of our dinner guests to get me a chair so I could sit down to stir the curry! After dinner, they all went into the living room to watch a movie, and I went straight to bed. I was just so exhausted, I couldn't even keep my eyes open. I had my first contraction at 1.30am and my first thought was, "Oh my God! I ate curry -- did it bring on labour?" LOL
I think the tiredness is a big sign that you're getting ready. It's like your body is telling you to rest while you can, to prepare for the big event!

Fingers crossed for you. I was told that Samantha wasn't engaged at all and was still posterior 2 days before she came. I was really uncomfortable and 'over it' on the Wednesday and went to bed early. Not really any extra BH's or any real signs that something was going to happen though. Then got up to go to the loo for the millionth time at 5.30am Thursday morning and my waters broke! She was born 22 hours later.
I'm sure your not far away now

My friends baby was still kicking and moving about while she was contracting and her head didnt get engaged till half an hour before she was born

have you got everything you need for bubs nzpiper? we still didn't have our bassinette at 40wks+6 and my mw kept telling me bubs wasn't coming out until we had it. my sis brought it over on the sunday and monday morning labour started
i had lots of niggles that ended in nothing a week before charli arrived. i think it was the threat of induction and c/s that got labour started
good luck chick, i think bubs will be here really soon! i know what the waiting is like, it sucks! charli was a week overdue

Yes, we have everything we need for bubs so all ready to go. I have had a miserable night. Apparently Peanut has been squashing a nerve and that has given me constant pain in my pelvis right down to my feet. no contractions but a very active baby...has kicked and burrowed into my pelvis for 2hrs straight now...it really hurts.
MW doesnt think he/she will come for a while as I have a cold now.
Feeling pretty sorry for myself but I'm sure you all know what thats like

I didn't have a show or waters breaking or anything but I definitely felt like I had PMS. I was teary the few days beforehand and on the day my contractions start I had period like back pain and was just tired. I cancelled things I had on and just read a book on the couch. I think I knew it was all about to start and that I just wanted to have a quiet day.
My moods were definitely like you are describing.

Meaning to reply the whole time but just so busy with bubs this side.
Mmm lets see. I had a few sharp pains that felt like a knive going straight through me and every time hubby said well I think tonight is the night that you wake me up. I felt definate contractions that peaked and then went calm again.
I felt like everything should be clean and sorted the whole house out(dont know why I bothered as our husky pup decided his way is better. By the time I got out of hospital the whole house was one dog play house)
Then the day my gynae saw me and said my BP is up and she doesnt like it and I cant go overdue at all so will put me on the list for Tuesday for a c-section I knew something was up. The whole time she was on about natural birth and didnt wanted to discuss a cesear with me at all.
So yeah she said anytime I want it done she can arrange theathre for me. So we decided on the Friday as hubby needed a day to organise with work.
That day before it I felt really disconnected from bubs. As if it isnt real and I wont have a real true baby to take home in a few days. Cleaned the house like a maniac including all windows. Repacked my bag about 10 times. Dog decided to go steal a slab of chocolate out of it.

sorry you're feeling so yuck Piper. On the good side, it's best to get over your cold before you have a suckling baby to look after as well (and hopefully that way bubs won't catch your cold). But even so, the disappointment with every evening being another day that s/he didn't come is quite frustrating, isn't it?
Have you tried a warm bath to feel better? Might ease the kicks somewhat. Hopefully the moving and kicking now will put bubs in the right position so your early labour doesn't go on for too long.

Hope the cold you're experiencing will get over and done with real soon (remember you can take panadol, and i took honey and propolis cough drops for my throat, keep up the liquids). And ouch! geez i hope s/he settles a bit and gives you a breather.
Rest as much as you can, if that's possible. And i second the bath ...
Show and waters breaking didn't occurr until i was 8 cm dialated and at the birthing centre in the water. I was 10 days overdue and the day before i gave birth i had quite a lot of energy to spare and was insisting that we go out and do stuff, shopping and a drive to raglan beach bought my contractions on.
And off topic, but these i found helpful ...
Best things i took with me to the birthing centre? a bendy straw and a plastic cup so regardless of what position i was in labour in DH could give me a drink without me contorting (birthing what a marathon, i certainly sweated like i was running one) and a flannel so that DH could wipe the sweat away from my face. Thing I wished i taken with me to the birthing centre post birth? - purelan (nipple cream) i had a heck of a time with latching cath on and ended up with dry, cracked nipples.
Cath 17 days.

I ended up with a 39 degree fever yesterday so there was a reason for feeling pretty rotten!!! Got checked outon the CTG last night and bubs was a pretty happy baby but boy was it moving heaps!!!
Feel better today....can move without assistance (I needed DH to half carry me to the loo yesterday). Sore throat, snotty nose etc but moving through fast. I figure I'll feel up to labour on the weekend so heres hoping!!!
Rackhell I am already understanding the benefit or thebendy straw after spending all day on the couch....it was so hard and uncomfy to move into a position I could drink from.
Anyway off to rest some more.

Hey, are you taking Evening primrose oil? It contains prostaglandins which help ripen the cervics. It won't bring on labour, but it may help. Although I think it needs to be taken in the last couple of weeks.

I didn't have any kind of "build up" days, it was all a bit of a surprise. I'd been nesting for weeks so I don't think that counts really. The evening before I had really soft poos (sorry TMI) and then in the morning I woke up to a show and was off my food, mild contractions started midmorning and that evening I was holding my newborn baby.
ETA: lol, so unobservant I never noticed the date of your first post. Sounds pretty promising that your getting the same buildup and hopefully without the cold you'll be going into active labour soon.

Taine was 10 days over....and those days were incredibly long - fr me and those around me I imagine.
I had had lots of BH - so many that my MW thought I would be early.
I spent ages on here bemoaning the fact that I wasn't in labour and how annoyed I was.
Labour day - we woke, took Jake to the park, wandered around...went to bed. Needed to go to the loo, and pop - waters broke and it was all on. I think I had a show, like after the waters broke, and that was it.
