I finished talking to someone tonight about fatherhood, she was wanting to know how my Hubby feels when he misses things to do with Olivia. And after a little think I wanted to write out something to all fathers.
Dear Husband, I understand that you don't get how big my love for my child is. It encompasses all life and all love and has changed me deeply as a human being, for I have held my baby within my body for 9 months before you got to, so I understand that it will take you the same amount of time to get used to this. I am the mother earth, I feed, clean and love. I comfort with my arms that extend around my family and hold us all close. But you are Daddy, you are the man of my baby's heart. You are the man who is going to determine who our child will love, you are the man who is going to determine how our child leads. You are baby's most important lovey dove and tower of strength. Especially on the days when you have to go and have to tear yourself away to say goodbye, especially on the days when you are the the law maker, especially on the days when you are the most fun (way more than Mummy!). I want you to know that your love for my child is intoxicating, I want you to know that if you love my child more than me then that is fine. I want you to know that for being a special place in my child's heart, you have also forever claimed a special place in my own. that letter was absolutely beautiful sara, there was a glare off my computer screen that was reflecting in my eye as i read it tho
