We have just got home from the hospital!! we have been there since Monday!(its wednesday here) I took Bailey to the Doctors monday morning as since thursday he has been projestile vomitting after every feed.. and only feeding for about 5-10mins as hes in pain and hes lost weight in the last week. Weel she thought it was possible he had Pyloric stenosis (Narrowing (stenosis) of the outlet of the stomach so that food cannot pass easily from the stomach into the duodenum (intestine), resulting in feeding problems and projectile vomiting. The obstruction can be corrected by a relatively simple surgical procedure). she wants us to go to the hospital to get baileys stomach scanned. We went up there and they didnt feel anything wrong but decided to do blood tests. these all came up clear! they decided they wanted to keep him in over night to moniter his feeds and vomitting etc. well... he must have known and... hes a perfect little angle! even slept 5 hours! only problem is he has diaorriea(sp) Doctor comes in yesterday and he wants us to stay another night and keep track of his evey feed and nappie change! well as soon as he left I feed Bailey and he throws up! but not just once 3 times!!! and then I have to change his nappy 3 times within the hour! BUT.... 8.30 last night I had, had enough feeding him every hour or so(because he was only feeding for 5-10mins each time apposed to his normal 20-30mins!) I spoke to the nurse and she said I need to only feed him every 2 hours! so she took him off me to get him to sleep (he was restless as he could 'smell my milk') he slept from 9pm untill 2am!!! (I was up untill 1am though wondering if when I do go to sleep he was going to wake) he feed for 10 mins and then straight back to sleep... he slept from 2.10am untill 6.45am! and he only woke then because I bumped him! this was the best sleep hes had EVER!!

The doctors came back in today and hes gained weight! so we got to come home!!!!!

Final diagnosis: 1) Reflux and 2) Viral Gastro

So Im glad to be home.. I just hope Bailey will stay as good for me here as he was up at the hospital!

Gosh Trish...you and your little man are having a tough time still...

I am glad that he is doing better and you can have some peace now that you know what is wrong with the wee man.....I hope it only gets better for you two.

oh no tirsh, but i guess maybe it's a relief to know whats wrong as now they can treat it. at least it's not the first thing, i can't imagine having to have surgery for such a tiny bub. hope things improve with Bailey. Hang in there!!!!

Oh Trish That must have been awful! I am so glad things seem to be getting better. Hang in there lovey. Give a big kiss to Bailey and don't forget to look after yourself too!!

Well what did I say.. I hope he behaves for me when I get home.. Well NO!!! hes had about 2 hours sleep since leaving the hospital at 12.30 yesterday! and hes started vomitting again and hes got diaahoria(sp) again!!! I dont know what to do! I have the plunket lady coming over shortly so Ill have to ask her!

It's really hard getting tehm back into routine after hospital where there is so much going on. We had Maya in and out with fails to thrive (not growing, vomiting etc.) for about 4 mths when she was smaller, and she was on hourly feeds too, and it just takes so much out of you.
I hope your hubby is being really supportive and that Bailey continues to get better quickly. I found it helped to play a radio in Maya's room after we came home from hospital and gradually turn the volume down over a few days. That way she could get used to sleeping in a quiet room again.

I hope you get things sorted out soon.  You guys deserve a break. 

You proberly have heaps of friends and family around, but if you want to catch up with another Oh Baby person I'd be happy to meet for coffee or something, or if it was nice go for a walk.
