Topic: The damn meds - what to do? Posted: 27 March 2008 at 11:06pm |
I'm having issues with my meds. Have been on them quite happily for about 9 mths now, but with being pregnant have found that if I take them at night I get wicked heartburn, to the point where I vomitted the other night coz it was so painful.
So I tried taking them this morning instead. No heartburn, yay, but I crashed out at 12pm and slept till 5pm from the effects of the sedative in it.
I spoke to MMH about them at my last visit and they aren't keen to mess with my meds while I'm pregnant because of limited options and at the risk of me going gaga, but now I'm at the point where I can't take them at all.
What to do? Taking them in the morning isn't an option, I can't afford to sleep all day, and taking them at night is making me too sick. But if I stop them, will my anxiety come back in full force?

Hmmm hard one all I can say is i'm glad i'm not pregnant so I can play with mine a bit.
Is there any chance that they can go down a bit?? So you are still on them but not getting the side affects of them so badly??

What about taking them at midday/early afternoon or something so at least the sleepy part kicks in later?

I agree with Stacey. You could try taking them at like 7 pm, with an aim of going to bed like 9.30pm, and see how that goes.
I think u should ring MMH or your white coat today, and tell them whats ging on. You dont wanna be in a mess or sick or sleepy all weekend and have to wiat til Mon to get hold of them!

Taking mylanta or simelar antacids closer than 1 hr to other meds interfers with the absorption of the meds.

That's the bugger! When the heartburn kicks in I can't take anything for it!
I might try taking them say 4-5pm tonight and see if that helps, at least then Willie is around if I crash out too early.

I had to take mine at night cos I was sooo drowsy,..I went to the Dr twice thinking my iron levels were really low or somehting,..but it was just that I was taking them in the am. Switched it to night and it was heaps better!

Mine are at night and i have been mostly ok after the initial week of feeling like i'd been hit by a bus in the mornings (was on morning shift so getting up at 5.30 probably didn't help).. i have found myself wondering though what the heck i'm gonna do when i'm rostered on night shifts cos these things knock me flat, but i seriously don't want to muck around with them. I didn't take it to work the other night i thought i'd take it once home then found myself getting home at midnight cos we were busy which is like nearly 3 hours later than i usually have them.. it buggered me up again in terms of sleep.
Man, these things really play havoc with your sleeping patterns.
