I have a Heart2Heart sling, got it s/h off trademe and absolutely love it! Took a while to get used to it and now I always have it handy. Can carry newborn to toddler even so heaps better than a front pack! I never mastered bf in it though

Theres a really good website that you can go too. That will give you all sorts of information of the different kind of slings available. I'd email them as well as they can discuss your needs and recommend the best one for you. Linky

I've recently brought a Mei Tai sling from Junglemama
and it's due to arrive tomorrow.

I have a pouch type one off TM. Used it a few times with Han as a toddler but she got way to heavy for me to carry at all. Planning on using it lots more with this one.

I have a Dulce and Zoet sling. I'm yet to try it, I'm still too worried Hannah's a wee bit too floppy for it. But with DH's aide I might give her a spin in it today

ETA: Will let you know...

I have to admit I couldn't decide between the D&Z and the the Mei Tai. I'm really looking forward to using it...

I've got a baba sling - it's ok. Was handy at the airport and getting on the plane, and when she was smaller if unsettled. It would just get in the way for breastfeeding, and I'd rather use the buggy for walks and shopping.

I bought a peanut shell sling. It is one that is not size adjustable. If I was going to buy one again, I would buy a sling which is adjustable. I found it was too small when Sophie was first born (because my boobs were so big!!), and then it became too big. In the end I sold it and bought a baby bjorn front pack.

I have a beautiful second-hand silk ring sling (lol, and no baby!). Ring slings are supposed to be good for breastfeeding in as well, and good for infants, they're similar in shape to pouch slings.

I have a D&Z sling but DD didn't like lying down in it (or any other sling) when she was little so I never got to try the BF thing (although it did come in handy as a drape when I was feeding her out and about). Now that she's a bit older I use it heaps in the hip carry and she loves it.

I have a D&Z, a peanut shell, a ring sling and a unido which is a new company that my friend has just started. I am a collector as you might have guessed.

I love my Unido and my peanut shell. But to be honest I had trouble learning all the new poses ect when I just started out, but Jess from slingbabies sorted me out and showed me how to use them all with lots of different poses. She has regular meetings once a month, if you are in Auckland I would recommend you attend. She has a library where you can loan them first before you buy.

I think ring slings are best for BF as they are more adjustable and also you DH can wear it too. The tail of the sling is really great for being discreet also.

I hardly ever use my buggy anymore and my bub is a real chub.

Happy slinging

I have a Dulce and Zoet sling and found that Carys just lay really awkwardly in it as a small baby. It would have made it impossible for BF as her head seemed to be scrunched forward no matter how i positioned the sling. Thus, we haven't used it - but i am keeping it as it looks really fantastic for carrying baby on the hip when they are a little older.

They look really nice but aren't adjustable and i think that an adjustable one might be better - esp for BF.

Good luck with your shopping!

I love my Mei Tai, so does Cooper. If you go for one of these I'd recommend getting it from Jungle Mama as the makers are more expensive. Check Link

The thing I like about it is that I know I'll be able to use it right up until he's a toddler.

It is quite tricky to get on, but I've got the hang of it now.
