Review of 'Carnival of the Animals' circus theatre
Review: Who can resist the circus, with its clowns, animals, and amazing acrobatics ... However, the Carnival of the Animals isn’t just any old circus. Australia’s incredibly talented – and strong - Circa Contemporary Circus performers strut, leap, twist, tumble and pose to reveal a host of different animals, from zebras, kangaroos and fish to elephants and hens. A vibrant animated video provides a backdrop, and some of the music had my three-and-a-half year old dancing in her seat. She and Miss Six laughed out loud at the animal antics: highlights included the hip-hopping, beatboxing elephants, the hen who could toss and catch ‘eggs’ in its mouth (don’t try this at home, kids!) the giant red balls and balloons bouncing through the audience, and the friendly shark which gave Miss Six a tickle and the little one a kiss. Be prepared for a magical experience that leaves you breathless – and wanting to run away to join the circus! Reviewed by Christine Nikiel.
