I'm not too worried, I'm just sick of plunket asking if he's done something yet and he hasn't and then they make you feel stink about it. Like he was a late crawler and isn't walking yet. Caprece has been feeding herself for a while but I think the fact that Jack sits there with a spoon really helps her along. She HAS to do everything he does. The joys of second babies really.

I think Jack was a bit later. We just let them play with it and use their hands if its a bit hard. Jack still sometimes uses his hands to put stuff on his fork.

Spencer is much the same, if i dip it in the food for him he will then put it in his mouth but then it comes out and gets a good bashing or lobbed across the room. He won't attempt to dip it in the food himself he just sticks his hands in the bowl instead.

Ella is getting better at feeding herself with a spoon...it easier for me to help her put the food on the spoon and then she puts in her mouth. She has a fork now for dinner time and she finds that so much easier to eat with than a spoon. Half way through the meal she gets a bit feed up with using the spoon/fork, so just starts stuffing everything into her mouth with her hands

Like the others said, I wouldn't worry too much about it....he will start when he is ready. Also I remember you saying that he wasn't hugely motivated by food, so is probably just isn't too interested......

Gina has started demanding to use her spoon/fork in the last month or so. She's not very good with it yet though and some of the foods falls out before it reaches her mouth - she's getting better slowly.

Jack has been using a spoon for maybe a month but I put the food on it then hand it to him. I have tried a few times to teach him how to the put the food on the spoon but he can't get the hang of it so have left that for now. Jack has always been pretty good with his food thought, but that's not surprising looking at mine and DH's families!!

Lucas partially knows how to use a spoon, really depends what he's dipping it into - if it's calci yum choc flavored yoghurt then he eats beautifully LOL! ....veges it's apparently more fun to fling it across the room

When did your toddler figure out how to feed themselves with a spoon?

Daniel doesnt want to try and I'm not forcing him. If I give him a spoon he just bashes it against whatever is near to make lots of noise. No attempts at all at putting it in his mouth of getting food with it.

Only reason I ask is that plunket made me feel bad that he's not doing it yet as though he's really laggin behind in this. I don't necessarily believe everything plunket says.
