According to the NZ Health & Safety guide all you have to do it heat it til its piping hot. And thats what I have been doing, and it tastes fine.

I hate how the 'standards' have made me so paranoid this pregnancy. I have children which are 8, 14 and 16 and food was not so resticted then. What is the difference between ham then and now? Nothing. My midwife and doctor told me that only a handful of people have had babies affected from from the effects of listerious (sp) so it has to be documented.
It is also a statistic that 2% of ALL babies born will have some sort of malformation....does that stop us from getting pregnant?
Sorry, it just gets so frustating,..,..you cant eat this, you cant eat that! Then I just think back to my previous babies, and they were all healthy and normal.
But the 'risks' scare us into not eating anything!
However, I'll be having my ham...just heated. My family has a big breakfast with croissants, cheese, tomato, pineapple and fresh sliced ham (there is that whole scene where dad tries to cut the ham and we all try to sneak pieces, and mum yells at us and then drops the piece she's hiding behind her back, ahh memories). Then we have cold sliced ham at lunch with the other roast meats and then there is the too full for a real dinner so I have fresh ham on toast and then the same for breakfast and lunch for the next week! Take it to say there is nothing better at christmas then that ham wrapped up in it's moist pillow case in the fridge.

Now, I'm not allowed to have it this year am I, I'll be about 17 weeks by then...

edited to add the photo

Edited by TraceyA
