Great explanations mushroom. So yep I'm on cycle day 9 for this cycle. I normally get a positive OPK about cd12 or 13 so ovulate around cycle days 13-15 somewhere give or take being that our body's do what they want! So I'm predicting ovulation sometime this week so need to get some BDing in (bd= baby dance....aka love time in the sack lol). As for stopping birth control I was on a pill (monofeme) for 11 years then when TTC back in 2011 I stopped after a period then went straight into natural cycles. I had 3 AFs before becoming pregnant in the November so it didn't take long considering I had told hubby it could take up to a year, so that was surprising.however as you know everyone is different! Hi HP, and welcome!

cd9 is calendar day 9, where the first day (cd1) is the first day of your period. Since you're bleeding, you're at cd1. You'll see periods referred to as AF (Aunt Flo). Not too suprising that you've stopped, as the pill basically increases your progestorone to stop you ovulating, and when you stop taking it your levels drop and you get a period (withdrawl bleed). How long it will take until you ovulate again is up to your body! Some people start ovulating right away, and others take months. I'd suggest not worrying about anything, and just wait until you get your next AF after this one - if you ovulate you'll get a period (AF) around 2 weeks later.

Since it might take months to ovulate, I'd save money on the OPKs until you get a regular cycle (not a drug-induced one). If you want, you can get a digital thermometer and track your temperature when you first wake up each day (before you get up/move around) - normally before ovulation your temperatures on average are lower, and increase by around 0.2 degrees after ovulation.

I'm a special case with TTC, so don't look at me lol (currently at over 3.5 yrs TTC#2 due to 'issues', which is a bit frustrating when we tried to start our family when I was 26 yrs old, but at least we've never needed condoms lol)

I'm still TTC # 2 here. Started trying in September 2013 and was fortunate to conceive 2nd cycle. Everything was going great with my pregnancy until I had my 12wk scan and discovered no heartbeat and bubs died at 8w3days. Was obviously gutted I lost my aug bub (would have had exactly 2yr gap to DS). So we moved on and started TTC after 1 AF after my d&c in feb. It's now May and I've had 3 AFs since and still nothing. I used OPKs and often temp but my temps arnt reliable as I use an ear digital thermometer (not bbt) so not accurate but gives me some indication (can def see a jump after OV). We tried soooo hard for a dec or jan baby to no avail. I had it all worked out with planning when to leave work and everything but that's all gone out the window now. So just going to keep trying and now for a feb baby as much as I didn't want a summer pregnancy but won't complain if it happens. I think after a year of trying hard you should see a specialist! Especially now you are 35. I believe you can self refer but as my problem isn't getting pregnant I'm not sure (my problem is staying pregnant). The ladies in 12monrhs plus should be able to tell you, I see you've posted there already! Hi HC. Sorry to hear you are having a tough time of it. I think the next step really need to be DH getting tested..... Many ppl have had problems convincing their man to go, maybe someone else can offer tips! There is a TTC for 12 months or more forum which you might find helpful. The ladies in there are full of helpful advice! Hi everyone,

this is my first post on a forum like this even though i've read a few for a while.

My OH and I have been TTC for 11 months now with no luck. Used ovulation tests some months and then just tried to be more relaxed in others. This month I really thought was going to be the one but it appears AF has reared it's ugly head again

Trying to keep positive as my OH keeps saying but its really hard when you are surrounded by friends, colleagues and family who all seem to have no problems conceiving! Also i'm 35 now so add to stress of TTC is paranoia that we've left it too late. Been to the GP and I'm all clear in the tests, OH is dragging his heels as he doesn't want to have to see GP about all this and just wants to wait for nature to take it's course! Frustrating as I want to have some control (ok, lots of control) over the situation and feel very helpless!

I find this time of the month the hardest, as i'm sure everyone does, really hard not to get down and feel like its never going happen, especially as the months tick by!!

I feel like I just need some extra support and ideas, so that's why i'm here.

Hi ladies,

I haven't been in these forums since my due in August 2012 group. Our little girl is now 16 months and I'm loving being a mum. We decided to start TTC number 2 in August but AF wasn't back and I had a few other problems so I went to the Dr and found I have graves disease, an overactive thyroid so we are not able to start TTC until that is under control. I was the most excited I have ever been when I got my first AF in about 2 years at the beginning of November! And I got a call from my Dr to say my thyroid is almost back to normal! Naughty of me we started TTC straight away (I should really wait until Dr says I am fully stable). I am day 29 since last AF now and was so exited to take a test this morning but BFN :-( I'm not really surprised, was just hopeful.

Ive resigned so its very quiet for me as i am getting no new stuff... bit of backlog to catch up on though and have everything sorted for the last day next friday. 2 weeks today until christmas day... christmas bbqs all this weekend lined up... family christmas next weekend... where has the year gone!

I'm really close to the kitchen so when ever my newly preg workmate is there i get to hear all the 'ohhhs, aaahhhs, congrats' etc SIGH wish i had just gotten accidentally preg like her, imagine the no TWW stress!   I have a couple of other friends with bumps and i do wonder when that will be me!

I'm sorry you are worried Lease and not excited, it must really ruin this time for you!

It is hard when you are TTC and other people get pregnant! You can't control your feelings, but don't bottle them up either - come and vent to us - we know how it feels!!

I know that you want to get UTD again, but maybe just keep it casual until the new year. This time of year is ridiculous, not matter how organised and calm you feel - the holidays are mental!!!

Major vent, but it isn't about an of you lovely ladies...

I am so over finding out that friends are pregnant... Friday night I found out that a 'friend' is pregnant with twins and is 9 weeks along... and today another close friend was jumping for joy in front of me at playcentre because she found out on friday she is pregnant and 8 weeks.

I am glad I can show indifference on the outside but my god I am torn up badly on the inside.

The worse part of being torn up on the inside is that I don't really know what am feeling, I am not the jealous type so I don't think thats it.

The 'friend' with the twins was through FA and they told them not to go for this month as there were 3 big follies... I didn't even know they were going through FA again. Her DD is a few months younger than mine and we both were TTCing for 3 years before we went to FA for help.
I don't know I really like this is person very much, we went to school together etc but yeah she is one of those I am better than you types.

I guess a big part of it is that if I wasn't actually chicken and actually went to my appt with FA, I could have been pregnant with them.

Then there is if I am feeling this way am I actually ready to be pregnant again?? The worse part of all of it, is that I am terrified I will get sick and hospitalised again, therefore being away from DD for so long will kill me...

Now I just feel silly but thats how I truly feel...

Hey Mikki… I'm 38 (hubby 42) and we're TTC #2. I conceived my little boy when I was 35 (took 3 months). This is our fourth month trying. There is another group in this Trying for a Baby set for TTC in 30's and older - there's a few of us over there, and we're in here too :) We saw a Dr no so long ago and were told to come back in January if we don't have any luck and they'll just check things - but were told that conceiving at 35 is a good sign for conceiving at 38. My only worry is we had a traumatic labour and birth and my uterus became infected - and I guess into our 4th month I'm wondering if that might have caused damage. Not sure if I am on the right chat area or not was really looking for a group for older mums ttc. I am 37, and I do have one child already but my husband and I just decided last month to try for another, I was 32 last time and conceived on my second month of trying, so am hopeful, but I sort of want to get an idea on what my chances are this time around. I am fit in fact I lost 35kg this year so am at an ideal weight, am healthy as far as I am aware, no medical problems, its just that I am older. We were not going to have any more kids and although I have not had my tubes tied and he has not had a vasectomy or anything we have just been careful for the past 5 years except for last month when we had sex on day 10 of my cycle which by the way is 27 days usually, so I ovulate day 13/14 so that put us quite close and was the day we conceived last time, then when my AF arrived both of us were quite disappointed so decided that we would try for another, I am currently on day 15 of my cycle so I ovulated I think on Saturday according to the tests I took, and we made sure we did it on the right days to give us the best chance, I guess time will tell.

So I got a call yesterday to say that I've been shortlisted for a new job and have an interview next week... Lease, I am just finding it hard this month. I don't have opk's since DH accidently threw them out when packing. This is DH 1st farm managers job and is trying to make a good impression so BDing seems out of the question. I am at CD13 and only had sex twice!!! I have FA tomorrow and that doesn't make you feel sexy at all! DD isn't behaving very well atm and makes me stressed. I probably got another 10 days til ovulation so that makes me pissed off haha.

Leishamaree totally know what you mean... we didnt even know if i should of come of the pill a couple of weeks ago and then
we decided to NTNP but now after just having AF weve decided to "TRY" . I thought deciding to try for a baby would be a pretty straightforward
decision but boy when really faced with it we've been to and fro to and fro the last 4 months! Finally we have made the decision to
just go for it! Understand about the job front though... its not that "ideal" to start a new job already pregnant but hey so many people
make it work and as you said you wouldnt complain!

IVe fount these forums super helpful ...so good to have so many like minded people!

I can't decide if we are trying or NTNP. I think we are leaning towards NTNP until after Xmas. I start a new job on 2nd December, and ideally I'd like to not start pregnant - the first few weeks we have 2 events to pull off so it's going to be mega stressful and busy - not ideal in early pregnancy..... However I won't complain if I do get utd!

Hey everyone, I posted this is the two week weight but I am SO excited!! we just found out our best friends who have been trying for more than 18months are pregnant!! They are being pretty cautious about it. but I am so happy for them. They are about 5 weeks so if my MC had progressed we would have been due within about a week of each other. Oxy, I get preseed from baby4you or Life Pharmacy! You only need a fraction of the recommended amount (in my opinion)... And it's not cheap but it's good

Bubno1 - I do saliva tests and OPK. You've also got to be really careful that you haven't eaten anything - they recommend doing the test the same time you do your temp - before brushing teeth and breakfast etc…
Spotting the fern patterns - partial and full are quite easy - there's a really distinct difference between the two - but it takes a bit of time to get used to it. You can follow guides/pictures online to work out where your test sits… I'm CD15 today. Had partial ferning CD11 & CD 12 and full ferning CD13 (forgot to test yesterday!). I think OV is today/tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I had + OPK yesterday but the new tests aren't what I was used to so I'm not 100% sure. But, with saliva testing as well and knowing a full ferning usually indicates OV in 72hrs, plus eggwhite CM today, I'm probably on track…. Hope that helps…    I think Saliva testing is another tool, but OPK's and temping tell you the same thing

We're still on track SMEP :-D CD15 today ….I OV'd early last cycle, I'm usually CD15/16 so fingers crossed today's the day …. I think we'll BD through the week to cover the bases haha

If you think your mum is going to be supportive then I would tell her, but if you think she wont be then I wouldn't, you don't need the added stress.

Myself I am doing good, CD10 and probably 12-14 days til ovulation lol
This month doesn't worry me if I don't get utd, I just want to get through xmas lol.

I am good. Thats a super cute piccy of your girl!! She is gorgeous. CD8 here today. Got a BD in yesterday which is good because I think today is out.. DP is quite unwell.. hopefully he will be better tomorrow or Tuesday and we can get back into it. I'm feeling pretty good about this cycle, positive but not getting my hopes up too much. first cycle after MC so I kno it could be weird, but next AF will be due day my parents arrive, would be cool if we found out when they are here, but wouldnt want to tell them until we were certain incase of repeat performance... I am still debating if I am going to tell mum about the M/C.

Looks like I'm still waiting for the witch still too show.

My 3yr old has been at preschool since 10 months old and has picked up so many bugs but I'm still waiting for him too get chicken pox..I'm lucky I have my own business as I'd hate too think how many sick days I've taken off.

Our daughter started daycare at 3 months old and has had her fair share of bugs - great for their immune system though!

I take CD1 as the first of the red flow with my AF

With the cousins that got pregnant - and that's the baby shower I got an invite to - she made special comment that they didn't want to wait till they were as old as me and find they couldn't have children…. LOL … charming… Hence I don't really want to go to the shower and I'd be one of the older ones anyway

Jeez is this cycle dragging or what and I'm not even at TWW yet LOL…   Have to take the toddler to the Dr's this morning - daycare conjunctivitis yippee… This kiddo was never sick until he started daycare last month LOL   I might have a quick chat to the Dr re our TTC journey and see if we keep going as we are or if she can suggest anything else given my age… I don't think I'm worried this is only the third month… maybe I'll just get some freebie HCG tests heehee

Hope everyone else is well.. I'm heading into a busy weekend, and I guess should come out the other side with a +OV with a bit of luck :)

Pitch - I found this helpful from fertility friend in knowing when to start CD1 as :
'If you need a pad or tampon and the flow is bright red, record “light flow” even if it is just a small amount. A new cycle will automatically be started for you if this is the first day of your period. Sorry too hear of your losses Charlie :( but exactly what I keep thinking all I want for xmas is those 2 lines and I'm going buy a test too put under the tree also :)

My AF was due yesterday 12 hours ago spotting/ brown discharge only when wipe. I jumped up and down so excited told hubby yay its all normal we can start ttc again.. This morning my pad was empty ( I've decided I'm going use pads this cycle I wanna see what the witch is doing) and still only brown discharge when I wipe :(...So hoping it starts up soon.
