....do you use a toddler seat / double buggy?

I think i've done something very stupid. I was so over our dumb bertini buggy that doesn't sit upright properly that I went a got a mountain buggy (naughty). However, I've just discovered that they don't do toddler seats, only those toddler board thingys.

Our plan is to eventually have 2 under 3 so I think I've done a very stupid thing. Do you often put both kids in the pushchair? If yes, I'd better take it back and hope they give refunds! It's still in the box.

Argh.

Teehee go Fiona!

I found that by the time Maya was 2-3 she didn't go in the buggy so much anyway, we only really used it when we went out on day trips to the zoo etc. in which case Elle would be fine on a kiddie board.

I'm really really really naughty. I just adore the latest MB and it was either that or get an umbrella stroller now and a new buggy when we get the next baby as Elle hates our pushchair. I decided that instead of having a pushchair and an umbrella stroller I'd just get a nice pushchair. But now I'm freaking out!!!!!!

Teehee, but just point out how stylish it is, and how much you'll get back when you sell it on TM, and how stylish it is...

The main point is that it sits upright for Elle! And that it looks stylish.

Oh man I feel stink now. Damn it Mountain Buggy...why can't you just do a toddler seat.

Why a pain Deb? I thought it seemed like the best / easiest to use of all of them.

It was too wide and despite being light it was unwieldy and the front wheel would keep locking up on me, which makes it really hard to steer. There were so many shops that we couldnt negotiate because it is just so wide. oh and the tyres needed to be pumped up constantly...I didnt like it half as much as i thought i would.

my advice stands, take it back and when the time comes that you have another then see whats on the market... why dont you borrow emmas smaller stroller for a while? see if elle likes it or not and will sit in a different one?

Elle likes her Nana's umbrella stroller.

I am taking it back.

I did do lots of research so I guess we'll just have to cope without a chair for a while.

just sell what you've got and get an umbrella stroller - maybe one like what nana has - or borrow emmas one - she doesnt need it cause its been sitting in my car since kels left!

I just made a silly decision as Elle was tired and needing to go home. I usually just walk away and go back later but I made a mistake this time. No loss though as they refund :) I'm an idiot.

ETA - we need a buggy as we do lots of long walks on rugged ground. An umbrella stroller is no good for that + DH hates them as they are too low for him.

I LOVE my Mountain Buggy, it suits me perfectly as I walk alot on bumpy roads around by our house!

FionaS We have an umbrella stroller too for the mall, its just from Farmers $89 and my DH can push it easily as it has really high handles for him, that is one thing we definately needed in our buggy purchases (he is 6ft 3)!

My buggy is a mare around the malls but its brilliant when taking my dogs out down the river/forest etc. Might have to get an umbrella one as they sound quite cool and cheap. I pretty much wiped out all of paper plus just trying to get a birthday card a few weeks ago...hehe

I would take it back too. Especially since you're already regretting the price you paid! And then make a decision when you do get pg. A year between 2 and 3 really does make all the difference. Briona would be happy on a trolley thingy now (she's past 2 yrs) but up to 2yrs would have got too tired too quick.

I have a double umbrella stroller for up town and a chunky old mountain buggy (triton trekker) with toddler seat for going for walks around home. Definitely like having 2 seats!

i have a bertini jet and jack usually goes in the toddler seat when i'm out with both of them because he likes to run away or stop and play with everything he sees!   i'd recommend taking it back too and getting something within your budget....there are alot of nice buggies around

We have the jet too but we don't like it as the seat doesn't go fully upright so Elle is always slouched down. Is yours the same?

I was really pissed when I found out that MB didn't do toddler seats as well. So I bought a kiddie board but so far my DD just doesn't like it. She is too short and her nose hits the bar she holds onto everytime we go over a small bump. So I ended up with a double MB and love it so much I actually cried the first time I took it out for a walk...FREEDOM again!
I contacted MB re the lack of a toddler seat and their answer was as follows...
"Our design team are strongly looking into a toddler seat, however we want to create something that exceeds the safety standards and is still safe and sturdy at the same time. We also want to accomodate both children with ideal positioning and comfort.
Alot of the toddler seats on the market do not come up to the safety standards and we do not want to fall into this catagory. The sales we lose are viable in the knowledge that we are not supplying something that won't come up to exceed standards."

Anyway, if I had realised that MB didn't do toddler seats in the first place I would have bought a buggy that did, but now am very glad of having a single and double buggy which is the most expensive option I know, but I love them every time I go out

I took it back before even discussing it. When I found out about no toddler seat I wanted to stop the purchase anyway but was too embarrassed! We are going to look around at other options and either get an umbrella stroller now and a new buggy when we have another baby OR a new buggy now and no umbrella stroller. Depends what is out there. DH likes the moutain buggy's too but we've decided they are definately not an option without the toddler seat.

We are considering the P&T but I find them hard to steer + they are pricey. When we got ours we figured a cheapy would be fine but we have regretted it which is why we are considering all brands (except Bugaboo!....OMG $1700 for a buggy!!!!)

I'd like a umbrealla stroller but we'd need one that reclines as Elle often needs a nap while out at malls etc. But on the other hand we need something that is actually comfe for her when we go on longer walks as we'll be doing that more and more as the weather warms up. I used to walk an hour a day before I had Elle.

We'll work it out! Too confusing! There was a really nice "Mocha" one we saw at one stage but I dunno what the brand was...it was from the Baby Factory.

I'd love a Bugaboo but don't think they have a toddler seat. Otherwise I have DH almost convinced it's a good idea as I keep pointing them out every time I see one. I love the Stokke one too but no toddler seat either.
I think we'll be getting a P&T

I've got the Bertini Jet too, and a friend of mine recently used it for 2 13-month-olds with the toddler seat  - she found it worked fine.  There's always twin strollers, if you plan on doing lots of walking but not lots of shopping! (that way both kids could be under a sun shade or storm cover if need be - that's the only problem with toddler seats).  I suppose you could always buy what you decide on for both kiddies when the time comes, and sell off the Bertini which probably wouldn't have decreased any further in resale value over that time anyway.

Hey correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Mountain Buggy that you can buy a 'conversion kit' for to turn it into a 4-wheeler that can then take a toddler seat?  Is yours a Pedigree?  You can definantly convert them and put a toddler seat (not the board) on.
