We are going to be staying with friends who are lending us a portacot for our baby while we are there. I was wondering if I could take my AC monitor and use it in a portacot...have any of you done this?
I haven't used it in a portacot but I think (as the instructions say) if you have a flat base for the pads to sit on then it shouldn't be a problem. The normal portacot base wouldn't be flat and solid enough for the pads to work properly. If you have a couple of thin boards to put on the base before you put the mattress down then it should work okay.
Yep, used ours in a portacot a few weeks ago - just put a bit of cardboard underneath the pad and it worked fine. The cord had to run up the side of the cot though, as there were no gaps for it to go through the base. Could be an issue with an older baby who moves around the cot?
Yep we've used ours many times in a portacot successfully. With regards to what kakapo said, we ran the wires through the holes in the bottom where the mattress velcros onto the base (not sure if all portacots have this though?).
We have used ours in a portable cot too. It works well. We use an additional mattress in the portable cot since the standard base isn't that soft! This meant we could put the sensor between the standard base and our mattress. Our cot has a zip to create a little door out of the cot which was handy for the cord to be put through.
Haven't read the other posts and don't have an AC monitor but we recently went away and we didn't use the movement part just the sound part, are you comfortable with just having the sound part? Imo I wouldn't be comfortable with the cord part.
