Topic: Phil and Teds - Dash or Vibe Posted: 20 September 2009 at 7:33pm |
So I know I want one of these two but just cant decide on which one.
Everytime I go and look at them and play with them I come out more confused. The vibe is stylish and a little wider in the seat and has the easy peasy brake but whenever I see it folded the cushy seat thingy always seems to be coming off and it looks quite bulky. The dash seems slimmer when folded and the brake is not much more to work.
Which did you choose and why? Now you have it what do think of it????

I'm now sold on the Vibe. Just have to buy it.
The dash brake just doesnt seem as user friendly to me. I would rather leave the handle at the right height, and push the button.
I also think the vibe is more stylish.
One last thing, although only preggy with #1, would like our children close together, so the vibe folds with the double kit on which may come in handly later.
Guess it comes down to personal choice.
Good luck

I have played with the vibe with the double kit on and I reckon its actually easier to take it off and fold it down tbh.
The brake is not enough for me to pay that much more money.
Functionality is what is going to sell me....

One of the main selling points of the vibe for me was the fact that the hood can move all the way to the front, so when they are little and you have them in the cocoon facing you the hood can be at the front so it's kind of like a pram...this will only make sense if you've had a play with one lol. It's handy now he is facing forward too to block the sun without having to put the sun cover thing on.
Brake is so handy too and it's easy to fold up. And I love how you can lock it into its folded up state so it doesn't unfold on you...I'm not sure if the dash has that function or not but I have heard of the sport unfolding while people are getting it in/out of the boot.

We have the dash and the only complaint I have had with it is that sometimes it gets a mind of its own and starts heading in another direction. In saying that we haven't had it that long and it has got better with more use. I have used it with the double kit and don't have any problem whipping it on and off, only takes seconds.
Even though I like the brake on the vibe we didn't get the vibe coz it just seemed a bit too bulky.

We chose the Vibe.
The brake only requires one hand (comes in handy if you have a walking toddler, that you need to hold onto)
The hood is completely moveable, which is handy as you dont always need to put on a sunshade, and as someone mentioned you can use it in a bassinette type arrangement with the hood at the back.
The padding is more comfortable
It locks when closed
The toddler seat can stay attached (im not sure how its easier to take it off, as its folds in exactly the same way as if its not there, but anyway I digress)
They are designing accessories around the vibe (for example the new bassinette called the peanut.
Its half a kilo lighter which helps when lifting it up into a boot.
It has an aluminium frame (vs a steel one of a dash)
And .. finally .. its just way prettier

It certainly is prettier, but comes at a much prettier price LOL..
There seems to be a few vibes coming up on trademe but as many dashes....I am still soooooo confused. I wish babyonthemove hired them both so I could hire each one and make a functional decision based on use!

Just adding that the dash also locks when it is folded.

I heard that the vibe was harder to fold as you had to really bend down and use both hands? . Also can the vibe take the capsule like the dash? I heard somewhere that it can't? I don't have one yet and can't decide what to get

I can collapse the vibe with one hand (after releasing the locks (which are located) on each side of the pram).
I thought the capsule holder only worked on a sport (could be wrong, never needed it). I will note that the Vibe with the handle across it, can contain a capsule, Ive put the pram into newborn mode, then put our capsule in it and its been fine and cant go anywhere as the bar keeps it sitting in place.

The vibe has a travel system on the P&T website to attach the capsule. But, to my knowledge it hasn't been released yet.
Like lilfatty said though, you can easily just pop it in the pram and it doesn't seem to move

Well don't get me started DH has finally convinced me to just go with the dash, over the sport though. Neither of us like the look of the vibe. I wanted a dash because of the brake but I wanted the sport cause I'm obsessed with green stuff. But I'm getting a dash graffiti if I can't get that I'm getting a apple sport. Simple as that.

We got the dash as we liked the look (and price) better. The only thing we liked better about the vibe was that you can move the hood when the baby is little. The dash is really easy to get up and down but our baby hasn't arrived yet so that's as far as I've got with testing it out. The brake on the dash seems easy enough to work.
I've seen heaps of Vibes out on the streets though, so they're definitely very popular.
