Hi I'm new here :) We have just decided to TTC and I have been on Depo for 2 years and the last injection ran out on 27 Nov 08. Does anyone know how long it takes to get pregnant and can you get pregnant without having your period? Last time I went off it my period didn't come back for a while. My sister on the other hand was warned about Depo and went off it then got pregnant strraight away! I guess it's different for everyone.

It's always taken me the same amount of time I was on Depo for AF to come back - e.g. if I was on Depo for 9 months, my AF came back 9 months later. I know some people have AF come back straight away and others can take years.

Yes you can get pg without having had an AF though - you usually need to ovulate first, before AF arrives, so you can get lucky on that first ovulation before your first AF.

Good luck!!

And in case you're wondering - AF = Aunt Flo = period

Funny you say that K8e, i was on it for 3 months and didnt get AF but got pregnant instead so that was 3-4 months after injection wore off.

I had two injections, took 2 years to get AF back after a visit to the specialist and 6 years to fall pregnant (without any existing conditions).

I was on it for a couple years, and my depo ran out 6 months ago. No signs of anything coming back (or pregnancy) yet.

I was on depo for about 7 year and it took over a year to get AF back, and then probably another 6 months for everything to settle down.

I have now been off depo since nov 07. Been TTC for 12months. They say it takes about 12months to get fertility back. Im hoping that next month will be the month for me

I have been charting so know im OVing, and im getting bloods done on mon to check levels etc............Feb sounding like a good month

Those saying they wanna conceive straight away. brace yourself............it could very well be a long road like mine and its not unusual after depo

I my last depo was nov 07 and have been TTC since Jan 08. Everywhere i go i get told that it takes a good 12months to get fertility back. My first AF was March 08, then i got it randomly until about August 08 and have been consistent since then but still not pregnant.

I dont want any of you girls to get your hopes up too high as it seems that the normal process after being on depo is to expect a wait. Before the depo i was on the pill and came off and got preg straight away......

I have got bloods done and am temping and can confirm that i am in fact ovulating which is one step closer to PG. Now i have been TTC for 12months i want to at least rule out any other probs, but im fairly sure that its just cos of the depo..........which personally should not be given to anyone if they are ever planning on having children..........it should be a i have finished having kids and just waiting for hubby to get the snip contraceptive..

I completely agree with you chickielou. I have been off the depo now for almost 18months and have just gotten af back though not properly but my temps are saying that I am oving so that's a good thing. When given depo I think you should be told everything and I was not, I thought it was the easy option cos I am useless with pills but I've since found out it was the worst decision I could have made . As you can probably tell this is something that I feel very strongly about now so sorry for the rant.

Good luck to everyone and I am sending you all BFP hugs
