It was lovely to meet Nikki and Monster yesterday! Monster you missed Anyssa's tantrum! She was not nearly as well behaved as young Rex and Tala! They are very handsome young men!
I thought I might have had thrush on the nipple a few weeks ago, but I think it was a milk blister now. We had no other symptoms and I didn't really want to treat us both if it wasn't actually thrush. I did put some yoghurt on my nipple - I felt nice and cool and soothing!!
Great to hear your dinner went well Nikki.
I should get some time away from my little poo bum over the next few days. DP is home for a 4 day weekend and then i'm off to Mums for a week.
Anyssa is crying during feeding quite a lot now. Any ideas? I've tried burping, gripe water, making sure she isn't too hot. I was thinking that maybe she has had enough, but she always latches on like she wants some more, and then starts wriggling and crying. changing sides doesn't seem to help...

DJ I would try everything you're already doing... Since those aren't working, could she be tired? Maybe try a swaddle and a dummy? Oh, and I can't believe your sweet girl would ever throw a tantrum!

I don't mind people asking if a boy or girl, but I do hate them calling her "it" or just assuming one or the other. Joy wears blue but then we don't like pink much at all. I feel like it's dumb that girls must wear pink and boys must wear blue - I hate that rule with a passion! there are so many other cool colours out there, but neutral clothes are hard to find
Joy had her first shower! She didn't cry but didn't LOVE it either...still got some cute photos

I agree with you on the colour thing, Sunnyhoney....I started liking pink just before I got PG, maybe my subconsious knew something I didn't - hated it up until then! We were told 90% girl, so I went out and bought some pink stuff and told DH that if a boy he would have to wear it anyway, I just wouldn't take him out in it! We were given a gorgeous yellow dress, but it is hard to find neutral clothes. I swear tho, the next person who asks if she's a boy when she's wearing pink is going to be told that yes, she is a boy I just wanted a girl so I dress him like one!! So angry, while at the mall a young girl (about 5) came up and stuck her hands & face in the buggy, made Mikayla cry, was just hanging onto the buggy and then coughed all over her! Her mother didn't apologise or take her away from the buggy, just asked where the toilet was! Hope she doesn't get sick!
Yay for the good shower, maybe I should try it again now Mikayla is a bit older...

DJ I am 99% sure she is tired. Lauren does this too during her evening feeds. If she starts doing it I pop her in her cot without the feed and she will normally have a nap for 45 mins or so and then she has a big long feed. Even if it means you are delaying her feed, she will feed better if you put her down for a sleep! I think they are actually hungry but are too tired to feed as it is quite tiring for them!
Just adding I am pretty sure this will cure the problem! It does for me!

My efforts of yesterday . Quite proud of myself, really. Joy is going to wear her new dress tonight - we are out to MIL's for dinner.

After not taking a feed this morning, Eva has feed well today. I think maybe she wasn't hungry. I've been feeding her by the clock, rather than waiting for her to indicate she's hungry. Tricky business this!
DJ, Eva also sometimes does what Anyssa does. I find it's when she's emptied a breast or isn't hungry. Not much help really!
Lol, Manz, you could be right about the cake! Yes, it's Eva's 3 month b'day today

DJ, Rex also does this when he is tired. Its a fiscious circle isn't it Good luck with the sleeping issue By the way, Anyssa was well behaved too!
Monster, I'm pleased Tala survived this jabs. Hopefully he doesn't have a too unsettled afternoon.
Kabe, Eva might be at a stage where she wants to play first before a feed. Sometimes Rex isn't up for a feed straight away and other times I can't get a boobie in fast enough!!! I've come to the conclusion that BF isn't meant to be straight forward!
Manz, I am very lucky to have a DH that is hands on. He sees it as 'special' time for him and Rex. But in saying that, he hasn't had to change a dirty nappy yet!

Thanks everyone. If only she would go to sleep! I saw the plunket nurse today and she thought it was reflux, so went to the dr, who prescibed gaviscon. Nikki I saw your post in Nov thread re slippery elm - I'd definitely prefer to use a natural product.

OMG it is so humid tonight. I checked the temperature in Eva's room at 6.30pm when I put her to bed and it was 27.5 degree's! No wonder she didn't want to sleep this afternoon. Was pretty tired so settled quickly tonight, thank goodness.
I've been lucky to have DH home for the past month, as he's a teacher. Not looking forward to him going back to work, as he's been such a big help. He's much better at changing nappies than me!!

Nikki B - you don't make him change nappies?? My DH has been changing nappies from day one - think he is trying to get his share in now so that he doesn't have to do them once we start on solids - he can't handle bad smells - bit of a sensitive tummy
Tis really humid here too! Luke settled down to bed at 8pm so hopefully we get a good night out of him - 5 or 6am...

Manz - Would be awesome if I could 'scab' a ride We do have a car normally but it's off the road due to gearbox troubles (wont be fixed for another 3 weeks or so) and we indeed have a car seat for Miss K
What time on Monday are we talking? Our house is a bit difficult to find, I'll have to give detailed directions
My golly has it been hot today, Keziah would not take a nap because the humidity in our bedroom was awful even with the fan on and all the windows open.. she went to bed a little later this evening as well so she was really tired and fell asleep as soon as her wee head hit the mattress.
We bought a bouncinette off TradeMe for $20 during the week so she has spent majority of the day in there keeping cool..It's good to get her out of our arms for a while, so we can have a cuppa or something to eat without eating or drinking over her
I have an announcement too... After all my b*tching about not wanting to breast feed anymore due to bad nipples/mastitis/over supply etc etc and giving it till Keziah was 3 months old she's 3 months 2 days old and I'm still persevering *wOOt* haha, I'm pretty stoked with myself, and Miss Keziah for being gentle to me during feeds so as not to stress me out

Stink Gabeden Ah well, theres always another time eh?
Keziah slept right through till 7am, fed for 20 minutes each on both sides and had a bum change and is now back in bed again so I'm up and doing stuff before she wakes up LOL so I've had a shower, put a load of washing on and done a general tidy up of the house.. the only people awake are me (obviously) and my little buddy Seth so it's nice and quiet at the moment so time to catch up on the message boards

hey neeks. go you with the breastfeeding
the troubles you've had sound alot like mine... 1st i had the cracked and bleeding nipples and had to use a shield, then infection got in and i got full blown mastitis in both breasts, after 4 weeks of antibiotics i still had a huge lump in the right breast so had to see a specialist THREE times to have the lump drained by fine needle... thank goodness for health insurance coz that cost $900 all up!! oh and then because of the antibiotics i got nipple thrush and that is still slightly lingering now... such a b*tch. BUT after all that i am still BF'ing too

Asset - man hearing your story I think I gave up way to easily. I had a staf infection that I could not get rid of with 4 courses of antibiotics. It all sucked and I had tremendous guilts over it.
Good on you guys for perservering.
