have you tried baby vicks (a teaspoon) in a bowl of hot water near their cot / bassinette (but not too close) - it worked wonders for DD and DS

oh clarise! This just sucks! I am gutted for you! I really thought you had the best sleeping schedule - how gutting that it's causing supply issues. I really hope you can find a happy medium once your milk is flowing well again.

SK - sorry to hear little Molly is all blocked up. I had heard that cooled boiled water dropped into the nostrils helps but saline is probably better. But I really can't offer any words of wisdom. Hope it clears up quickly.

Emmi I find that no matter what sort of day Alex has had I can never guess what sort of night he will have! FX Lilla has tuckered herself out and she will sleep tonight for you.

You can make your own saline at home, its just salt water It helps soften the mucous and they generally sneeze with saline.

Morning ladies! We had a great night    Should bloody well think so though after our non-stop feeding frenzy yesterday! OMG we have a frost here today... brrrrr so freaking cold!!!

Em, the longest we've gone without sleep on a feeding-frenzy is 6 hours and it doesn't seem to effect night sleeps.

Clarise, that sucks about your supply issues! I'm surprised bubs is sleeping so well if he's not feeding that great.

Nic - that's good to know that Lily went through the grizzly evening stage. Hopefully it's just a phase.

I could never bring myself to suck snot out with my mouth... the thought of it makes me feel ill Not looking forward to Flynn's first cold.

OMG Amy, another few days and Flynn will be a month old!!! Only 11 to go till his 1st birthday!!

We had a pretty long night, Lilla fed 4 times and would take ages to go back down again, my nipple freaking hurts (I was crying about 4am this morning, and thats with the stupid shields!), and we had our first poo-up-her-back nappy change!
Anyway onward and upward, have MW at 10am this morning, and then coffee group (and then definately nap time when I get home!) will stop in work on the way home this afternoon so they can have a look see

Oh gosh for the nappy change Em! Lily has had quite a few, one of them was so bad I just bathed her instead! (Somehow it got down her sleeves... )

Clarise that does suck hun but it takes a few weeks for them to establish your supply and then they slowly (very slowly) start to space their feeds out.

Amy yup definitely a phase, although at the time it doesn't feel like it and you wonder what you're doing wrong etc! Just be patient and calm and if you get tired etc ask dp to come help for a bit.

Em - do you think you have cracked nipples? If so in the bounty pack you got from the hospital after giving birth there is lanolin (sp) that you put on your nipple and helps ease the pain and doesn't affect bf.

Have fun at the coffee group guys - I won't be there as Jayden has just got over a cold and I don't want him to get another one so soon and it's too cold outside and we had a not soo good night last night with the teething.

Renee I think the shields are doing it to my nipples, Mw just came and we had a bf with no shield and it didn't hurt anywhere near as much! Now I just have to do it again by myself next time :)

I got a txt from mon last night, Finn was admitted to hosp for iv abs, she said this morning he's doing heaps better but will be in till tomorrow night...

Em - thats no good about the shields doing it..I don't have any experience with them so is it normal for that to do that and do you still need them? Sorry all these questions.

Hugs Emmi! Tonight must be better right?? FX.

Mon I hope Finn gets better really quickly.

MW apt went well today. Alex is now 4.5kg. She thinks he might find his fingers soon and that may give my boobs a break from his comfort sucking and mean he's not constantly attached to me! We will see.

Poor Mon!
I got some shields, they're definitely worth a try if you're sore. I found they didn't do heaps for me but if you had cracks or grazes I think they'd be great.
Everythings going well for me. finally starting to feel better after the c-section. Swelling in my face and body seems to be going down a bit. My feet are still huge tho. Any tips for this?
I let baby sleep with me from 11.30 last night and so we got 2 five hour sleeps with a feed in the middle! Bliss. I'm still worried about rolling on him but the midwife seems to think it's safe. During the day he feeds every 1-2 hours.
I've got lots of milk, Baby lost 157 grams but has put on 100 in last three days.
Only thing I can't get right is the latch. The midwife says it's fine but it still hurts. Baby won't open his mouth wide enough for me to get enough nipple in. I mean he looks OK from the outside, correct mouth position etc but I know if the latch were deeper it wouldn't hurt. He latched deeper for one feed yesterday and it was bliss. No stinging, biting, burning feeling. I've tried relatching (and relatching and relatching and relatching) but no success. Iv'e waited for the wide mouth too. Any tips?

Pixie, were you given TED stockings in hospital? They help with swelling as well as prevent clots. Also elevating your legs and pointing/flexing your feet can help drain the fluid from your feet.

Pixie it definitely shouldn't hurt! Maybe a little like tugging kinda feeling but shouldn't hurt!

Also the burning feeling... Have you noticed any colour change to your nipples whilst it happens? Like them turning white?
I have a, I guess you could call it a condition, where the blood vessels spasm and my nipples turn white and feel like they are burning and it kinda hurts. Usually after a feed though and when it's cold.
It's called Raynauds Disease, the doctor never saw it but she said that's what it sounded like.

Yes I have got the stockings. Must put them back on. I'll try the elevating pointing thing too. Thanks!
