Hi let me start by saying I'm not trying to be seperatist, I'm just curious as to how many of us there are and what our experiences have been so far.

I'm 28yrs old and have been married for 1yr and with my DH for almost 8yrs in total. We have been TTC since June 09 after I came off the pill in March. I wanted to start trying years ago but DH wasn't there yet (personally I think he's one of those guys who won't ever be completly ready until it happens lol). I had high expectations that it would happen fast, helped in part by my Mum saying "don't go off the pill till you really mean it cause women in our family get pg SOO easliy". And so here we are.

I am currently in the 2ww and struggling a bit more this month than in the past few. This is totally about me building this month up in my head because it is mth 8 and "a high percentage of couples under 30 concieve within 8mths" way to put pressure on myself huh?

So whats your story?

Hi There

DH and I have been together almost three years and almost married two. We have been TTC since October 09 and thats when I came off BCP. My Mum took a while to conceive with myself and brothers because of PCOS and only found this out with her second pregnancy, I have been cleared that I don't have PCOS but we are into month 5 of trying and if not UTD by the end of 6th cycle I am going to go get the CD 2 AND CD 21 bloods done.

TTC since October 2009
Diagnosed with PCOS June 2010

Im 25 and DH is 29, we have been togeather for ages and have just celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary.
After a bit of travelling overseas in our first year of marriage we decided to start TTC in Jan09 - with no luck so far
Like you we thought it would happen within the first few months.
We have had all the BT / SA done and all is normal, my cycles are regular and I have never been on the pill; we are fit and healthy.
DH thinks it will happen when it is ment to be but It doesnt got any easier for me, each month is heartbreaking but my drive to have a baby keeps me going. I want it so much and I will be UTD soon (hopefully )

TTC for 4 1/2 years
IVF #1 - April 2012 short BFP, no frosties
IVF #2 - August 2012, BFP!! 3 frosties!

I'm 28 and DP is 31 we've been together for 9 years now.
I had my IUD removed in March 09, so started TTC then, my mum took years to get UTD and I've had alot of friends take well over a year so was completely ready for it to take at least year for me.
Got my BFP after 4-5 months of trying unfortunately at my 12wk scan we found that bubs had died at the 9wk mark which was a huge shock as everything was going fine and I had terrible morning sickness. Had a D&C and my cycles have gone back to being regular-ish so pretty much went straight back into TTC.
Now I have been UTD I find I am alot more "desperate" to get there again, although I think I am doing much better this month than I was last month (not quite so nutty ).

I'm 27 and DH is 30 (but 29 when we got BFP!)

We had been married for just under 2 years when we got BFP and had been together for nearly 6 years in total.

I came off the pill in August and we got our BFP on the 2nd December :) I don't think my cycle was even close to being back to normal when it happened (was on BCP for 11 years and was having 42 day cycles after coming off it) so we got lucky. We had been on holiday the 10 days before we *must* have conceived so I put it down to getting out of our normal routine and chilling a bit :)

Hi all!

I'm not such a common face (username) round these parts these days but I do occasionally still lurk

DP (29) and I (25) have been trying to conceive for almost 3 yrs now, I went off the BCP in March 07 and we've been actively since the April being under gynae and specialist care from the word go as I have PCOS so they knew the would be issues as I don't have a regular cycle or ovulate on my own.

I'm on a mission to lose weight cos at this stage in the game after several clomid cycles it looks like IVF will probably be it for us. The specialist wants to possibly try injections beforehand though so will see with that.
Also I have to lose a bit more weight to have a Lap done too. So that's where it is for us at the mo...

My DH and I are both 28, married 5 years and together for 10. I was just 27 when I fell pregnant with number 1 (estimated date of conception was my birthday ), after 7 months of trying, I came off the pill in early November.
Number two happened VERY quickly! First month off the pill, still bf #1 and only had about 2 AF cycles since #1 anyway!
All the best MrsMJD

Huge HI to everyone who has posted so far, such a varied range of experiences. Thanks for sharing.
I forgot to mention that DH is 33.

Cruzychic I noticed the weightloss ticker on your signature how have you chosen to lose the weight? I'm only asking cause I'm on the journey to a healthy weight too and am nosy

Ladybee my DH is the same he keeps telling me to "chill out and relax it will happen" kinda hard to hear when you want them to be as wound up as you are right?

Didi Your MC must have been heartbreaking I've had a couple of friends go through them. Huge Hugs. I've had a couple of friends take a while to concieve #2 but everyone else seems to have concieved after only a few months of trying (most 1st go) which makes it a bit tough cause they don't understand the frusteration and emotion quite the same. I had to ask my closest friend to stop asking cause it happened crazy easy for her all 3 times (sadly they lost twins at 14weeks) so she expected the same for me and would ask ALL the time.

Rachel congrats on your bubba!!!! Like you I was on BCP for more that 10yrs those first couple of months off it were an unpleasent time.

Kelz Fx for this month!!!!!! That random long cycle is a killer right?! I had one and got so freaking excitied. I actually had a tantrum when AF arrived

Wishin41 Wow what a tough journey this has been for you so far. Good luck with the weight loss thing, I've lost 20ish kgs so far so I know how tough it can be.

Booski congrats on your Itty bitty and your current pregnancy. Hopefully your popping in will spread a some fertility mojo

To anyone else under 30 and ttc #1 we look forward to hearing from you.
(edit was for spelling and grammer fixing )

Those are points are part of the reason I started this thread. I know that every woman hopes it will happen right away but when you're under 30 it's almost scientifically expected lol. And I think that a lot of Dr's have different expectations as well, most will tell you the stats and say to come back for testing if you've been trying unsucessfully for a year (unless like wishin41 you already know of a medical reason that night cause problems). It can be kinda frustrating.

The other thing that gets my back up EVERY TIME is "oh you're so young you've got plenty of time" aaaarrrrggghhhh. I know it's usually well intentioned but I always feel it's kind of condecending, esp when most people don't know your history.

Oops sorry that was a little venty wasn't it.

Vents are allowed

I'm TTc #2 but for #1, I was 27 and DH 28. His birthday in fact . Came off the pill in July to sort my cycle out (it was regularly irregular) and took precautions for the next few months. Officially started TTC in Oct and got pregnant first cycle.

Not sure what will happen for #2

Aghh a little vent does wonders sometimes, I had one with DH this morning - I was a little upset because I found out last night that 2 more people I know have become pregnant withour trying and some of my friends has been talking about me behind by back about how long it taking us to have a child ( they all are pregnant or have children and dont know were TTC )
I guess they pesumed we were or someone I told in confindence has passed it on ....... It annoyed me because I hate the looks I get, they look at my belly to see if they can see a bump, watch if Im really taking a sip of my wine and If I decline a drink I get the oh she must be pregnant look or they ask outright are you pregnant. I know its only a little thing and they will be excited when I am UTD but its annoying IYKWIM
But DH and I had a great talk and it really helped me

Wishing41 dont be a stranger come join in on the chat I think it helps me alot. Are you charting ?
FX with the Lap and injections, I hope they are the boost you need to get UTD

Congrats on losing 20kgs MrsMJD! Well done!
How much more are you planning to lose?

Ladybee - No I'm not charting anymore, trying not to think about TTC too much (and I start to analyse everything when I chart/ovulate) while I'm focussing on this weightloss, there's no point charting at this stage for me as I rarely have AF's and when I do I don't ovulate (unless the rare occassion when i do take clomid) so I guess we aren't actively TTC but still hoping for a miracle.
Understandable you are feeling the way you are, isn't nice to feel like you are under scrutiny (sp?) all the time for people seeing if you are UTD, fingers crossed it won't be for much longer

Ladybee I so feel your pain. ATM My boss is 8 days over due, one of my childhood buddies is pg with #3, my neighbour is due in a couple of weeks as is my DH cousin and 1 of my sisters besties is due nowish. And I found out that at christmas the whole family was speculating cause I was "grumpy", not drinking, and didn't go to a family dinner cause I wasn't feeling well (I had a wicked headache). VERY conclusive evidence........... not. I know it's cause they want it for me knowing how badly I want it but seriously people!!!
I'm happy for all of those who are expecting I just want my share of the fertility mojo.
Fx for this month!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wishin41 thanks! I'm planning to lose another 10 which will put me into my healthy weight range but it's slow going the last 3 weeks I've gained small amounts which have totalled 0.5kg. Part of me hopes it's pregnancy gain Silly right.

It's funny how you hold onto the smallest, craziest reason to hope.

Hope is the only thing that's kept me going lol, it's something you just can't kick!

Have you done anything different to result in the gains?

Hi Mrs MJD and everyone else!
What a great thread idea.
I'm 26 and DH is 28, we have been together 8 years and married for 2, I almost felt like I was reading my own story when I read yours MrsMJD as I was ready to try for kids years ago but we waited until DH was ready to take the plunge, and of course thought it would be easy because we were young.

We have been ttc since Feb 09, in Oct 09 we felt worried and thankfully had a GP who listened and we got all the tests done, DH's SA came back with dismal results, only 2million per ml and very low motility, we were both devastated and our GP referred us to a FS who we saw in January. We're now on the waiting list for ICSI which will start in Oct 2011,
This was another blow for us as we hadn't expected the waiting list to be so long!

The thing that guts me the most is that I never wanted to be someone to put having babies on hold for my career or anything, I always wanted to be a young mum, and we thought we were doing the right thing for us by starting early as we knew there were risks to starting a family later in life. And now I'm looking at another 20 months wait until we can at least even attempt to get pregnant with ICSI, I'll be 28 by then, 29 by the time I actually have a baby if we are successful, which I know is still young but it is so much older than what I wanted to be as a first time mum!

And when I have told a few people that we have to wait to do ICSI I have had the 'oh well you're lucky you're still young' spiel which is so beside the point-it doesn't matter what age you are, infertility still sux!

Whew that was a bit of a vent too sorry!

Anyway it feels like it's been a rough few months finding all of this out and it's been hard to accept that we may possibly never concieve a baby the 'natural way', but we are now coming to terms with it and have decided to enjoy the next 20 months together and I'm trying not to get so hung up on the waiting game and the age thing!

Look forward to chatting more with you all soon and reading about everyone's experiences!
xxx
