Hi everyone, I thought I would join this thread. I'm 32 and my DH is 36. He had a vasectomy reversal in December and it was successful however the first sperm results showed low levels but its meant to increase. Last month I got AF 6 days early. I mentioned this to my doctor when I was there for something else and he said it was highly likely it was an early miscarriage. We're trying again this month but I haven't had a positive OPK. I think maybe I started testing too late? Anyway, AF is due in 7 days I think so will wait and see! Good ok to everyone else for a speedy BFP!

I started on day 14 and it was dark but not enough to be a positive and then they got lighter each day so I think I may have missed it. Because my doctor said I likely had a miscarriage I have been wondering if my cycle could be a bit messed up. We BD lots anyway so still holding some hope (maybe stupidly!).

Oh yeah, maybe start day 10 this time? Or if you don't mind using up sticks start as soon a couple of days after AF finishes so you can't miss OV You cycle could get messed up, but the human body is pretty amazing and hopefully will recover super fast. Everyone's different though! My first cycle after m/c wasn't that different from my regular ones, just delayed OV a bit, but I was also stressed with work that week so really hard to tell. So many things can factor in! Do you chart?

Thanks for your advice, I think I will start earlier :)
I haven't gone down the charting road yet and I'm not too keen to. Do you recommend it over OPKs?

Not over OPK's no. OPK's trump everything for pin pointing OV time

Hey everyone! Im going to start using OPK's this month. I was reading somewhere it is best to test twice a day, once between 11am-3pm, and again between 5pm-8pm or something. Is this what everyone else does? I'm thinking to just test once between 5-8 though some sites suggest the optimum time is around 2pm! I am getting a box of 40 strips off trademe for about $20 which is a good price, and I can do this at work as well. Any/all advice greatefully received.

The strips pick up the LH (Luteinizing hormone) surge that triggers OV. And the surge can last for 24 to 48 hours. After a positive reading OV usually occurs within 24-48 hours. If you really want to know within 12 hours of when it the LH surge started and finished then you could do 2 tests a day. It's more important to know when it's finished, although you should be BD'ing all 3 days before and both 2 days after OV I test once a day as soon as I get home from work (about 5PM). I test everyday around OV time until I get a pos and still keep testing each day after until I get a neg. You should just do whatever works for you though, there is no real wrong way. However it is recommended not to first thing in the morning and also only after a couple of low liquid hours.

Is there any specific brand of OPKs anyone recommends? I've been buying the the First Response ones from the supermarket but wonder if the cheap ones on Trade Me are just as good?

They all do the same thing and none are any better than the others.
But there can be some big price differences.
I have been buying from baby4you.co.nz at about $45 for 40 strips. Think I'll switch to TradeMe caus they are way cheaper!

Hi girls, First test are bloods at various days in your cycle and swimmer test for DH Since then I have had more bloods to check other cycles and cover more days. Then an ultra sound and last thing I had was a HSG where they fill you uterus up with dye and x ray it filling up and coming out your F tubes. So far everything is "normal" so not sure what next - maybe Clomid?? Or a BFP on our own!
Hope none of you have to go down that path!

Oooo, thanks for that info Icecream - much appreciated. I wish we could OV twice in a cycle, I mean one cycle, one egg (generally), seems such a waste of resources and time! Now I've written that down I see it doesn't make any sense logically, all sorts of things would go wrong haha. I'm just being impatient!

I agree Nellennium - I'm going nuts waiting at the moment! Wouldn't it be great if each cycle was half the time!
I really want to test but I know it's too early and I know it will probably be negative but I guess there's always some hope ...

Day 24 for me and my average is 29 days but that's been bought down by being so early last cycle. Normally it's around 31 days.
What day are you up to?

Oooooo so you're bang in the middle of the TWW! Good Luck! I used to have an average of 30 days before m/c, last 2 cycles were 33 and then 32, hoping it will go down another 2 days. Just because I hate waiting! Really feel for those that have long cycles, that would drive me batty. And today is CD5 for me, so we are at opposite ends of the cycle Been reading all there is to read on the Fertility Associates website this morning, playing with the biological clock the BMI calculator, reading about food/drinks etc.... I'm at work so I shooould be working!

Morning everyone! So this is what waiting is like! The TWW sux because you are trying to read every twinge in your body, Is this a symptom?? but this TWW is also awful! I feel like im just waiting for something to happen. Nell you and I are very similar in the obsession stakes! I OBSESS about everything! ATM we are also trying to buy a house, our first home, so thats adding to the obsession, though again with that we are in a TWW! There is a current offer on the house that goes unconditional in two weeks, on finance. the agent is pretty sure its going to fall over but its hard waiting for that!

I know exactly how you feel Avidkeo. This is our 5th cycle and I'm starting to go mad! My DH is so calm about it and I'm trying to be too, but every twinge or slight pain makes me wonder if its a symptom. So annoying! And then last night I had another friend announce another pregnancy that's happened very easily! Rant over now! :)
