Hi Rosieposie,

Sounds very similar to what we went through trying for our first - I ended up pregnant at 27, though only found out when I was 28 at it just squeezed in before my birthday!
How regular are your periods? It's a good indication of whether you are ovulating normally or not. For me and my husband we went through testing earlier due to family history, and confirmed I had PCOS. PCOS is a pain because you don't react well to insulin so have to eat more like a diabetic to keep your hormones at healthy levels, plus exercise, but with drugs such as clomid you can generally ovulate and get pregnant if that is all that is wrong. If you find you're not ovulating, you can get an ultrasound to see if your ovaries look normal or not (i.e. do they have multiple follicles or not). My normal blood tests always show me to be in good health, so don't tell full story!
My hubby was tested months after me, and we found he has low sperm count too which is why we haven't been able to have #2 yet (we did manage to naturally conceive #1 the month after the doctors had basically told us it wasn't going to happen!)
We've done all our treatment to date privately through Fertility Associates (Auckland), and are now up for publicly funded IVF in July.

Soda - I hope you can enjoy your time off TTC, work on your dance steps, and get the house all sorted for your big move adventure!!

Welcome back Minik8e - hope your scan goes well and everything with work!

HT - really hope you're in with a shot - maybe hubby just saved everything for when you got home ;)

Hi Mushroom

Thanks for the reply!
Got the phonecall with results this afternoon, the husbands results came back normal which is a huge relief!
My day 21 test came back with a level of 23 this time, so higher than last time but still kind of ambiguous!
My periods have ranged from 24 days to 34 since we've been trying, but in the last 3 months they seem to have settled down to 28-30 days.
I have temp charted about half of my cycles while we've been trying, which seems to indicate ovulation most of the time. I've also tried OPK's for 3 cycles but never got a positive on those.
So I guess we'll just keep trying for another few months and see what happens and then maybe do further tests on me. I don't have any family history of fertility problems and have always had pretty regular periods. One of my sisters did have endometriosis but she is currently pregnant with her second and both didn't take long so no problems there!
It is kind of frustrating to have nothing obviously wrong but for it to be taking so long! Trying to be positive though :)

I hope the time passes really fast for you until July! :)

Welcome Rosieposie
Sorry that you find yourself in the frustrating want to conceive but struggling frame. Hugs. The good news you are young and that matters a lot. Getting onto your fertility journey now will ensure you are still working in the peak of your fertility yay for being organised and aware.  Hopefully with some monitoring and some treatment you will be up the duff in no time and happily growing a baby.  You will find the journey has really wonderful moments of hope and positivity and other moments where the pain of not concieving or holding a pregnancy and the fear it will never happen get all a little too much. This is why this forum is so wonderful. While everyone is on their own journey with their own challenges, we are observers and cheerleaders for each other. It will be most likely someone has a similar experience to you and checking in regularly ensure that we can blow off steam and fears and keep relatively sane along the way. Big welcome and we look forward to you getting with child along the way.

My skin is going crazy... small acne is popping up on my decolletage  and on my chin. It is too early to tell anything apart that I must have some crazy hormone levels at the present time.

Hi ladies!

Soda if you are still lurking, I'm sorry for your BFN and I hope the break brings you some peace and relaxation. Big hugs

Minik8 welcome back. I remember you from TTC pages and Due in pages, from back in 2009 I was babyish back then though. That's tough you have endo and PCOS. A very good friend of mine was also diagnosed the same back in 2010 and now has a lovely 2 year old. She lives in OZ and had by the sounds of it, a great mix of drugs that she had taken to conceive! I hope the specialists take good care of you and help to her you preggers in no time! Can I just ask how many recurrent miscarriages you had before your twins? And did you take progesterone because you knew your levels were low?

Welcome Rosieposie FX your not here too long. The unanswered infertility game does suck! Not that having answers for it doesn't - it just all blows really LOL

AFM - no luck last month. AF arrived right on schedule and the day after I got a BFN no less but oh well, am back to the OPK's and Vitex this month… and of course the baby aspirin. So fingers crossed!
TTC #2 6+ yrs. Multiple chemical losses, 4 IVF rounds, multiple FET's. Fingers still crossed for a miracle to come our way

Hey all

Soda - sorry to hear of your BFN. Can understand you needing to take a break, and with the house build I am sure there will be plenty going on to keep you busy - and of course exciting times when you get to move in! Take care.

Rosie - welcome, sorry you have to join us but hopefully your stay is short. I understand your frustration when it seems to be so easy for those around you - my husband and I feel the same way as our two nephews were both surprises yet we can't get UTD when we are actually trying! I am guessing the doctor may need you to do blood tests for a couple of cycles but if those show you are not ovulating hopefully they should be able to give you some drugs to kick start things.

HT - fxd those crazy hormones are a sign of good things!

Storm - sorry you didn't strike it lucky on the last round, here's hoping for this one!

AFM - day 15 on my 3rd round of clomiphene but haven't had any ov signs yet... Weird, last two rounds I've had lots of pain around day 14, so who knows what's happening this time! Will just keep on trying I guess lol

Hi everyone,

Rosieposie, we're in pretty much the same situation as you TTC for 14 months and currently unexplained. It's hard not having something you can fix but agree with HT that your young age and getting on to it now is a huge plus!

Fingers crossed for this month Storm.

Star hope ov is just round the corner for you.

I'm at 8DPO/IUI. The TWW is totally dragging. I haven't felt any tiny symptoms at all that this might be the month. Is it possible to have no symptoms at all in the TWW or is it still too early?

Good luck for ovulation soon star.
Sorry for the BFN Storm, hope the vitex does the trick this month

Hi all, sorry I've been a bit quiet, we had more tests done a couple of weeks ago and it was decided that we would try a private round of IVF this month which I was expecting to be in about a week but my body had other ideas and I started injecting on Saturday just been and have my first scan on Saturday, I'm on a short protocol so everything should hopefully happen pretty quickly. Have been feeling a bit off, not my usual self and really really emotional (went a bit crazy the other night ha) and I'm starting to get pretty uncomfortable in my tummy, I really have everything crossed that we will be one of the lucky ones who are successful first time round but I'm also trying to be realistic at the same time. Hugs to you all x

Storm11 - I had 5 m/c before the girls, and was prescribed progesterone pessaries from the day I got my BFP (13DPO from memory?) which I took until week 13. I knew I had endo back then, but the PCOS is a recent diagnosis (it's been mentioned before, but never confirmed).

DH has had a SA done which came back as normal, but my cycles are everywhere from 25-59 days long, so hopefully the Clomid will do something....I got my prescription in the mail yesterday which is kind of scary! I need to try and figure out where to do the blood tests, as there is nowhere local that I know of to do them. The scans that I need to do will be in Hamilton, which is 3.5 hours drive from here, so hopefully my boss will be ok with the time off at short-ish notice...

That is really exciting Lulue!

I am at CD11, and according to our letrozole cycle we need to BD every other day from CD10-CD20. We BD twice yesterday because I thought maybe multiple times on the BD day is a good idea but by the second round last night I was very tired after a long day.

What sort of blood tests and scans do you need minik8e? I'm in New Plymouth and when I had my first consult with FA in Hamilton I was under the impression that I would be able to do my scans and blood tests locally? I'm sure he said some local radiology place does the scans?

MedLab in NP can do the blood tests, but I live in Inglewood and work in Stratford, so popping to NP isn't really an option first thing (especially because I have to get two 5 year olds ready for school at the same time, and drop them at school in Inglewood). The scans can't be done locally, they have to be done in Hamilton. This is what he said to me at our first consult in NP last week anyway...he wanted to make sure quite clearly that we were aware of that.

Hey ladies - has anyone done/is doing IVF with ICSI, and has had hubby sent for a testicular ultrasound? Hubby got a call today to say they're sending him out some paperwork for more blood tests and an ultrasound to look at why he has low sperm count. Was wondering if it was standard procedure for funded ICSI, or just an enthusiastic Dr? Just curious...

Oh Naki ppl love it! Am a Naki girl from way back.

Anyway can't believe they don't do scans in NP mini! You'd almost be quicker to shoot to wanganui from where you are to get them done presuming they do them down there. Stratfords lab doesn't do same day? Seems so crazy esp since I can get bloods done in Marton (closest place that does same day) and those get processed in wanganui or palmy (not sure which) which is a similar dist that stratty is to NP.
I get your dilemma fully - can't remembered if I shared my travel but 4hrs return for scan 7 hrs return for any treatments 3hrs return for basic bloods. It sucks and it does affect work. I'm lucky I don't have other chn (in some respects) to think of and just my job to worry about otherwise I'd be a stress pot even more.

Hi Minik8e - I'm another naki dweller currently going through FA in Hamilton - its a drag stuff being so far away!

So we had our appointment in Hamilton yesterday, and were told what we expected -nothing showing abnormal on any test results, so IVF with no public funding for years yet. SO, long story short, paying privately and will be starting IVF in approx 5 weeks! I am quite excited/positive plus a little bit nervous!

I asked the DR about the lipiodol uterus flush I had read about, She was fairly neutral about it - she confirmed that it has been shown to be useful with mild endometriosis in particular, but there is only one guy who does it now (at Auckland Repromed). What she did say is that the scan (HSG i think?) that lipiodol used to be used for (by everybody I think) they changed what they used because it was causing ... blockages or clogging some kind of problem - my memory fails me a little bit! But anyway the general gist of that is kind of interesting.

So, I'm not really looking forward to all the to-and-fro to hamilton, but generally quite excited!

Oh and Minik8e and KP06 - Our DR at Fert Associates in Hamilton said that they can get Natalia Andreianova here in NP to do the IVF scan, but she made it pretty clear they really prefer to do it all themselves.

Maybe that's the scan that can be done that I was thinking of? I have an appointment with Dr Natalia Andreianova next Friday to potentially start Clomid.

Blood tests are no problem for me, I live in Inglewood, work in Egmont Village and we are both self employed so while it's annoying I can be quite flexible and don't have a boss to ask, but any day away from work I lose money.
