Thanks HT that's what DH thinks too but I just can't get my head around why they would increase the chances? If one was going to stick wouldn't it stick whether put back by itself or with another? maybe I'm having a blonde moment (am blonde FYI so no offense meant at all lol ) but I just don't get how it would increase the chances apart from that fact that it's two and not one? or is that it? lol it's just quicker than seeing if one wild stick over two cycles? am I sounding really daft right now? haha

Hi Storm, I'm sorry that this didn't work for you, AGAIN. I have no real advice for you, having not been in your position (the first time I was too young and it was a first time anyway so only one and the next two times I only had one to put back!) I guess you can only take the advice from FA under advisement, but it also depends on how quickly you want to get this whole cycle "over with" and start afresh, should these last two not work. And also having a hard think about whether twins are something you would be happy with in terms of your pregnancy and the aftermath! You're not sounding daft, it's confusing!

I'm so sorry the last one didn't take :-( you are having such a tough journey.

I don't know if it increases the chances overall of getting pregnant or just gives that one cycle more chance of working if that makes sense. I wonder what FA stats show.

It's a tough call to make, one cycles instead of two is attractive. Twins are hard work to start with but do entertain themselves well (I'm a twin and loved growing up as one).

Oh storm, sorry to here it was a BFN! Sending hugs xx
No, I haven’t asked the nurse anything yet, I raided my mums lemon tree and have been having lemon and honey drinks which seem to help. So might just wait a few days and see how it goes.
I think I would be the same and want the 2 put back at the same time and take that chance! I want them to put 2 back for me but they wont due to my age but i would be happy with twins after all the waiting we have done. Also i would have to watch this if we did as i have a higher chance of having twins as my mum is one.

Thanks sweetpea, Auntie and Lulu - Auntie how are you getting on hun?

I've made an appointment to see FA doc next week and talk it over. My thought is putting two in is really a matter of just speeding things up rather than which way has the higher chance etc - I just know FA don't like to do it but surely it would ultimately be our decision?
At this point I think our chances are fairly slim that they will stick, let alone both - but if by some miracle they do, I think DH and I are, at the moment, ok with that after all we've been through. But I'll of course talk it all through with FA. Nurse said I'll be ok to start my next cycle this week before the appointment as it'll just be progynova I'm taking for a while.

Sweetpea hope the lemon and honey are doing it's thing for you as much as it can. How are your hormones going now?

I would have thought it was your decision in the end and with your history they should take that into consideration. Guess you will have to wait till your appointment to see what they say.

Hormones still suck! i was watching something last night and had to turn away and make conversation with DH so i wouldn't get so emotional, all he did was laugh at me. Its strange to not be able to control it, i am not an emotional person so ahhhhhhhhh

So after playing phone tag with my FA Doctor last Thursday and Friday to the point I felt like I stalker ringing her cellphone so decided I'd call FA today to either speak with her or get a message to her to call.
Nurse called me back said she only works Wednesday's and she's got an appointment free if I want to come and see her, I said that would be perfect to get it all sorted!
Now I'm thinking hmmm do you think I'll have to pay for that appointment? And if so any ideas on how much???

Yeah I would think so too sweetpea, guess they just sit on the side of caution. I think it's standard for them to just transfer one so hopefully he'll see our side of it and be happy to transfer them both.

Faith that's great you got an earlier appointment. I think from memory FA initial consultations are about $270?? And follow ups are less like $165.

Sweetpea, hopefully the progesterone balances out your hormones then lol I think I've been like that for the past 5 years so feel you! haha

Hi ladies,

It's been a while since I posted on here but I still pop in to check how you all doing!!

Storm I'm sorry it wasnt a sticky one this time for you. I think giving your history and situation im sure your specialist will def look into as an exception of letting you transfer the 2 next time. One of my rounds my embryo split in two so became pregnant with identical twins but despite looking great with measurements, heart rate and hcgs I lost them at 9.5 weeks. My dr put it down to higher risks being twins and we were just a case of really bad luck. But I know several people that have had twins and had minor or no trouble at all. I can totally see thou why you would want to start a fresh so I really hope they let you do what you want to do this time round.

Congrats auntie! So happy for you. Hope you are doing well?!

All the best sweetpea for your upcoming transfer I'll be crossing everything for you 😊

Hi ht hope alls going well and with hubby now?

I had my 20 week scan today (at 19 weeks as couldn't wait lol) and everything looking great and we found out we are having a girl. Starting to feel more real now and feel like I can start to relax. I want to thank you all for all your support and wish you all the best I'll keep popping in to see how your all going xx

Yay Missy :-) Congratulations on cooking a wee pink bundle of deliciousness :-) That is awesome! Thanks so much for thinking of us and giving us an update too. It is such an important message of hope and positivity for us all! I can't wait to hear of your safe progress as she grows and develops.

Hubby and I will be fine. I just really would like to be spoilt and treasured for a while. I'm so not a princess and go out of my way for him all the time and would like, for once in my life, to feel as cherished and important/central to someone's well being.  Oh no, I'll stop there lol. I'm sure that gives more than enough to go on HAHA

Take care Missy, don't be a stranger xxxx

Hi all. Where is everyone up to in their cycle. I think it's O day today. Positive OPK yesterday and today so hoping that it's the start of the TWW. Well hopings not the right word I suppose since it's a horrendous time haha!

We got a letter from FA turning us down for public funding which is devastating. We've been trying 2 years. Lost 3 early pregnancies and I'm 37 so not young. Does anyone have insight to this? Can I ring and ask why we've been turned down?

Hope everyone is doing ok whether in TWW or waiting to ovulate or BDing or testing!

Yay on your little girl missy! Exciting times for you. And as HT said its nice to here the good stories for us still trying

Bonnie,of course ring them and ask why. They should be able to tell you why your not able to get funding. At least if its something you might be able to change. I would have thought with ur ages you would have been. Wonder why

Hi there, I have just stumbled across this chat when googling IVF in Otago, we have been ttc for 2years+ no luck hsg completed plenty of blood work to finish with a diagnostic of unexplained infertility. IVF seems to be our next option Dr seemed to think it could be years before we get on the list?? Is this true? We will think about self funding but depends on the wait. We are both pretty down about recent findings and just need some more info. If anyone out there has some useful info please let us know!

Hi Bonnie and Jo
We have just been through the public funding process, as unexplained infertility you pretty much have a 5 year wait before becoming eligible. There might be some extra points available to reduce the wait e.e if you dont have kids already, or if have any fertility issues which could reduce you chances. We got given a date of September 2019 (5 years from starting to TTC) when we went through the process. All a bit depressing really, age isn't a big issue for me now, but it would be in 5 years time.

Thanks Lulu, I can't believe it's that big a wait, self funding may have to be a possibility. I will keep my fingers crossed for a wee lotto win 😳

Yeah it is a long time, hopefully it will happen for you.
I have gotten pregnant straight after a Lap/Hystreoscopy (after 27 failed cycles). I guess I am saying there is still hope even if it has been a long wait. We were trying to find the money to start IVF and hopefully we wont need to know.

If you don't mind me asking what did you get a lap for and how did you know you needed one- doc seemed pretty sure IVF was next with no more investigation? I would love to know if there were other reasons that can be/may be sorted with that sort of thing.

Awesome to hear your good news Missy and Auntie.

Boo about your BFN Storm, sucky mc suck pants. I look forward to hearing whether you decide to go with 2 or 1 this transfer.

Welcome Jo. I went through Otago Fertility Services / Fertility Associates in Dunedin too. I totally understand your frustration - it's so hard to find info on how it all works and the doctors can be a bit too quick to tell you to go away and keep on trying/waiting. The public funding thing is a matter of getting enough points - you can ask to see how they scored you if you like, I managed to get them to email me a copy of my form. For us, bloods and sperm testing showed nothing. It wasn't until I had a laparoscopy (which I actually got done through another clinic who I asked a second opinion from as I was frustrated with lack of progress in Dunedin - I did it privately but it was covered on health insurance due to me having some symptoms and a family history of endometriosis) that they found I had pretty extensive endo and that, coupled with the fact that my periods are irregular got us a high enough score to get on the list for public funding. Once you get on the list you then have to wait until you reach the top of the list - when we got on it in 2015 it was 8 months, although that could have changed - it sounds like most places in NZ it's around 1 year, sometimes more.

I'm just ticking along, 26 weeks today. Thinking of you all xo
