Hi everyone, I hope you are all ok. I had my 8 week scan yesterday and we saw a heartbeat. Now have to decide between midwife or obstetrician. Does anyone have thoughts either way? Thanks!
Lulu, have you had your scan yet?

We decided to do shared care this time too - midwife and obstetrician. Don't want to take any chances with this little one as it's our last shot 😃

How does shared care work? Sorry, I don't know many people who have had a baby (recently anyway :)) here in NZ and I didn't grow up here!

You can have both a midwife and obstetrician. I was referred to hospital so am using their obstetrician. Have had midwife only care up till a few weeks ago but now see them both. Obstetrician care can cost if not referred. If you h e a good GP you could talk to them about it or maybe whoever was doing your IVF.

Adn - we r paying for obstetrician - $4700 approx for the whole pregnancy and she has guaranteed she will at the birth So that's good. We had to pick a midwife that would be happy with shared care as some aren't. This will mean both midwife and specialist will be available throughout and at birth.

Hi ladies, Sorry I haven't caught up on all the developments, will have to go back and do so but for now I finally have an update after waiting 6 weeks for yesterday's appointment with Fertility Associates. Very happy with the consultation, we walked in with unexplained infertility and walked out with borderline PCOS, an internal ultrasound, follow up blood test and information on medication options to help me ovulate next cycle. The complete curve ball this appointment threw at us was that yesterday's follow up blood test results came in today with pregnancy positive levels of HCG.....??!! Dr Conway checked to see if pre-appointment blood test in late May showing a progesterone level of 10 was me getting ready to ovulate, finishing ovulation or a fizzer from PCOS; and if the thickened uterus lining was simply due to not having a period for 2 months. However, my HCG levels are very low and yesterday after seeing the thick lining on my uterus, Dr Conway did check for a gestational sac, which wasn't to be seen. This could just be due to very early pregnancy but at the end of May when family members were sick with vomiting and diarrhea, I too came down with a severe stomach bug that had me vomiting for 2 days and in bed for 4. The severity of the vomiting and nausea, coupled with extreme fatigue and a constant craving for fruit juice (which I'm allergic to) caused me to take a pregnancy test and it was negative, which I expected. In the past when I've had low HCG and miscarried, I've still had a bold positive pregnancy test even on the day of miscarriage. I don't feel very hopeful but maybe that's pure pessimism from bad experiences. Nothing to do except wait for a follow up blood test on Tuesday

Thanks for the info Kumeroa & Rosey! I don't really have a GP (and really should move to a closer one). I've booked in a midwife a friend recommended and will see how that goes with a view to switching to private and an OB if required/desired a bit later. We get some OB coverage through our medical insurance.
LiBi - wow what an eventful couple of days! It's great to get a diagnosis and options to move forward. How bizarre about the pregnancy levels! Fingers are crossed for you that it's good news. Keep us updated!

Hope everyone is doing ok, wherever your journey has you at the moment. It is heartening to see so many of us graduating from this group.
My scan went well last week. Everything was normal which is such a relief. It finally feels like i can relax and try to enjoy the pregnancy.

Hi ADN. Scan went well thank you and everything looked as it should so we have graduated from FA. We are 7 weeks and 5 days today. Feels so unreal, except for the occasional nausea reminding me that there is something there 😁. How are you feeling? I have my first meeting with a midwife next wens. I hope I like her because she is the only one available.

Woohoo! That's great news. I hope you like your midwife :)
I'm feeling good today. I was 9 weeks yesterday and have been having midday-early evening sickness. Yesterday was pretty bad all day nausea but it seems to have skipped me today. Let's hope that's it for now. I have a scan next week to check for a vanishing twin (which could explain my wonky hCG numbers) and am booked in for my 12 week scan in early July.

Hi everyone I've been MIA for a while just needed to concentrate on myself for a while after our bad news last cycle
Good to see everyone seems to be going so well in here! Congrats to everyone :)
We had our FET on the 8th June and have beta on Monday but I caved and POAS this morning with a FRER and got a strong BFP so I'm cautiously happy, after last time I won't be letting myself get too excited til after the second beta! But trying to stay as positive as I can this has got to be our time! My sister in law announced she's expecting number 2 the other week which was pretty tough when we just lost our one but hopefully this is our time and we will be due a month apart

Hey Faith, that's totally understandable. Especially the hard news from your SIL. Hoping that this FET works out for you! Cautious congratulations for now :)

Wow very quiet here atm - which is good as it seems so many have had their long-awaited good news :) Faith, I hope some "me" time has given you a measure of peace and strength ahead of the next leg. Am so hoping for you to have some good news x My blood work taken the day of our FA appointment came back HCG 68 and Progesterone 58. In a strange way, I find it funny that the nurse called 68 "low" for hcg as my miscarriages were 20 and under....guess it's all in perspective! That was on the 8th and I had follow up bloods on the 13th which came back with mixed news - my hcg had almost doubled at 290 but my progesterone had dropped dramatically to 30 nanomuls (about 10 nanograms in American measure). The FA nurse said that didn't look promising and that she wanted me to be prepared for miscarriage bleeding should progesterone drop further. However, the nurse also said that for all the concern, my hcg was still going up acceptably and at this point I was still maintaining my pregnancy. I went in for further bloods on the 16th and had better news, my hcg had more than doubled this time to 850 and progesterone had crept up from 30 to 32. I'll have another blood test on Thursday and although I'm afraid of seeing blood every time I go to the toilet, we are tentatively hopeful that maybe this very-unexpected little bean will stick

Thanks ladies , frer this morning the test line was darker than the control so feeling way more relaxed now !
Libi congrats! I would of thought they would of offered you progesterone pressies if they were worried about your levels! Fingers crossed it all heads up the right way :)
Edited: blood results in level is 440 so feeling very happy with that! Today is 11dp5dt .Re test on Thursday
