Hi ladies,

So I am one of the very few early 30's on the plant who doesn't have FB, I honestly can't stand it! But I am getting major FOMO because I don't have anyone to talk babies with on here hahaha.
Surely there must be other peeps out there too! I feel I am overstaying my welcome in the TWW thread, lurking around, so wanted to start up another 'talk pregnancy and babies' thread

xx

Hey Snifter, I remember you from ttc after mc thread! That was a sucky thread to be in that's for sure, but honestly it helped me out so much, I really felt supported and was so lovely to talk to girls in my same head space, as absolutely no one I know had been through that!

I'm doing good ta, how about you? I'll be 7 weeks on Saturday, have scan on Monday arvo eeep I am so excited, although I know there ain't much to see haha. Have been having regular bloods, just got Mondays results and they were 39000, from last Tuesdays 9300 (I missed thurs one because it was closed).
So how far along are you now? I have midwife (first app) on the 30th, looking forward to meeting her etc, she has been highly recommended so that's a relief. Yeh I would just ask gp again if you are feeling anxious hun, if they say no just wait for MW and she will sort it for sure.

I hear ya re feeling nervous, however I am definately feeling positive because I really feel pregnant this time (unlike mmc). Like I feel like sh*t all day haha. So I am hoping with that and great bloods, all should be fine. Plus too, I have learnt after last time what will be will be!! My little girl just started school, so it is a bit weird having no kids at home, ah well at least I am going to have two great big helpers haha

great numbers mami, scans are so reassuring so i hope yours is great next week! Im 8w3 at the moment, so we are not so different :P
you may recall i lost my last at 12 weeks, so for me i really need to have that scan go right to feel ok....   My girl is 3.5y- i never thought i would have such a gap. Do your children know you are pg? i havent said anything to mine. especially after last time....    We're actually just past the due date i would have had for the pregnancy, so i was very happy to be pregnant again when that date rolled around.... (actually that was the day i had bleeding, so wasnt a very happy day at all.... funny how quickly i forget!)

Morning!

Yes I just hope they are a good sign and all goes well

Yes I do remember your story as it was similar to mine, although we had an added kick in the guts that we took the kids to the scan with us and told them they were going to be having a new brother or sister, recorded it on our phone as well, then the sonographer started doing her thing and her face just dropped...bubs had passed at about 8 weeks. The kids were crying, I was numb and poor hubby just didn't really know what to do. We spoke to the kids and they trusted that it was ok and just meant to be. SO YEH pretty crazy experience that was. Because after having to healthy kids, and not having bloods or early scans with them, I didn't think anything of it! But it was very disturbing for me, and traumatising, I just couldn't wait for the operation.
So no, the kids don't know, and I actually really don't know when will be a good time...after my 12 week scan...then take them to the 20 week? I dunno!
Our due date was 10th of May, was a sucky day, but what is special is that we conceived this one just days after our due date, like around the 12-14th, so that's a bitter sweet thing for me

oh wow mami. you know it never crossed my mind in my first pregnancy that scans could have bad news. how silly. that must have been so emotional for you all. kids are quite pragmatic though and accepting of things- lots to learnt from them sometimes :) having said that in the 8 or so months since the last 12 week scan my daughter has a bit more understanding of things, so maybe i should be talking about things but i dont want to have to explain it all to her just yet. i think after 12 weeks is when i will all going well...

ive just been reminded of waiting before my dating scan last week- a family went in before me, and all of a sudden not long after i could hear this loud sobbing. it just got louder and louder. it was so sad. brought back lots of memories. i dont know a thing about this persons story, but gosh i felt for her.

thats lovely to have a connection between your pregnancies. i see it as a positive omen! xx

Im so full of flu at the moment. so sick of it. cant take anything and just feel miserable with no energy. and nausea to boot. moan moan.

Hey Snifter, how are you going? Have you managed to get yourself another scan? EEk we have ours this arvo at 4:30, I am super excited but nervous at the same time, oh to just see that little heart beating
How's the sickness, I was so sick with a flu right when we would have conceived, it had been lingering for like 4 weeks, it was horrible!

Oh yeh cool! I am sure she will be super understanding and sort it for you
Oh no re sinus, that is so sucky, can you take anything at all? Yeh that would way over power any morning sickies or anything And so tiring for you too I would assume!! Have you had any food cravings yet?? I get an idea in my head and I just have to eat it, haha, lucky it's been good stuff so far!! Although the other day I was driving, and I just had to get a cheeseburger from Maccas, which is so weird because I HATE maccas, so off to the drive through I go and ask for a cheeseburger with mayo, no onion and extra gherkin haha.

Yeh I just had a whinge on the TWW thread, I was like man I started a new thread and only one chick has jumped on so far! So stoked that you did though, haha imagine that, talk about leave me hangin      I don't know what is so great about talking on fb instead of here. I would have thought it makes much more sense to chat on here!

I'll check back in this arvo and let you know how I go x

Oh awesome I was thinking about you and your mw meeting today, glad she's lovely! Is she going to give you extra scan? It's a bit daunting having a new mw, I had the same for both mine. How come you are having a new one? So so cool she got the heartbeat with the doppler, cant wait for that!
I got to have two really good rests today, so im feeling quite good this evening for once
Hahaha the weight thing is SO hideous a, but your right a healthy baby is the only thing we care about, bring on breast feeding & pounding the streets with our prams, so good our bubs will be summer bubs haha, shame about the bikini bodies haha!

hiya- my old midwife has retired/moved so had to get a new one. i didnt use the one i had for the last mc as i wanted a total fresh start.... im a bit weird like that.
she recommended i get a scan next week- so ive just booked in for monday. so yeh. all looking good.

she mentioned about doing the harmony test- evidently its $675 through labtests. tells you any chromosomal issues and gender. im not sure about it. dh thinks we should just do the usual screening but said if it if made me feel better about things then we could do it. what do you think>?

my daughter HATED being in a stroller. i had all these plans for walking around - and all she would do was writhe and scream. ended up having her in a manduca most of the time. I want to buy a reverse facing bassinet.changeable style one this time. will look around in later months!

Yeh same, my old midwife with last 2 has retired now, which ended up not mattering anyway because we moved towns haha! I can't wait to meet mine next Thursday!
Yeh funny you should mention the harmony tests, I was thinking about it too, even though im not old, only 32, I still feel that id rather know if anything was up; then actually be able to make a decision. Iv heard of some really freaky stuff slip through the cracks lately, like severely disabled babies who didn't even last days on the outside & I just wouldn't cope with that stuff. Even a young mum I know through my dads work, had bloods, scan etc but ended up having a severely down syndrome bub, it was so traumatic for them. I am an ece teacher, and I have seen children of every disability etc, and parents act out to everyone else that they cope, but when it comes to meetings with us re their child & the help they need through the ministry etc, the cracks begin to show, plus the kids are the ones that suffer the most & I could never put my child through that, I feel it is so selfish. So after my rant haha, yes I reckon those tests are a great idea if it's going to give you piece of mind
I will talk to hubby about them soon too! My gosh my girlfriend is about 2 weeks ahead of me but she is going with ob, which is fine, but she waa telling me those same tests through him are like $1500, $700 PER TEST! what the!
Funny your bub didn't like the pram, heaps of babies don't. I have obe that goes from bassinet, to face me, to forward facing, its awesome, just a jolly jumper one. What's a manduca?

a manduca is just a brand of baby carrier e.g. https://www.thesleepstore.co.nz/manduca :) its meant to be good for hips tho which i was all paranoid about as my daughter had a slight hip issue identified (later shown to be fine).

that seems CRAZY prices for OB tests.... jees!!

im not sure what my decision would be if it found an issue like downs. im 34. does that mean i have a higher risk? i dont know.....

part of me thinks i dont want to pay that much money in week 10 if i have what happened last time.... would be wasted....

hmmm.

Hey!
Oh yay babe that is so awesome, you must feel so relieved & relaxed now, so happy for you yeh I can't wait for my 12 week, because this was the first baby we've ever had 7 week scan so will be super interesting for us too, to see the difference. Can't wait! So will you still have the 12 week, you need to a because that's the nucal is that right?
Yeh im good, still chugging along, feeling nauseous most of the day so while its really sh*tty I can't complain haha. Hope its a boy, mainly craving savoury, with my daughter it was sweet & I actually vomited, this time round I haven't been sick (yet) haha. You guys going to find out what you are having? ?
Yip meeting my mw this week, thurs evening, looking forward to it. Can they hear heartbeat this early? ?

hiya. yeh. i actually feel excited. ive been so holding back on it in a self protection thing. you must understand....
my mw did find a hb and that was at 9 weeks. but for my last pg the mw said she wouldnt try (and this was 10w) as its hit and miss being able to find it so early and she didnt want to stress me- so i think its up to the mw. if you want them to try- then they should!
yeh i am still going to have the 12 week one. as for now i have decided to just do the usual nuchal screening and skip the harmony.
and yes i would like to know.
i asked for my daughter at the 20w scan and the lady couldnt see what it was so didnt say anything. i am thinking i am similar to you as i crave salty more.... so feel like this is a boy hahaha. lets see eh!!
nausea sucks eh. i find myself nibbling on things then wondering why my clothes dont fit hahahahahah

Hello,
Yay meet my mw today, she is SO lovely! She was so warm & caring & all about how I want to do this waterbirth etc, so another thing to relax me, I am in good hands. She's all for the natural calm births etc so im wrapped. She also ever so sweetly offered me a 10 week scan without me even talking about it, so I think ill go for it, because as she said between the 7 week & 12 week is a long time. It will allow me to go into the 12 week chilled!
How you feeling today?
