Hi

I use the wee weka patterns for newborn and the small/medium one. I made two of the medium/large but personally didn't like those ones as I prefer a single row of snaps rather than a double row, plus they are quite wide in the crotch. So for large I use the Paddy Pants pattern which suits my daughter well.
The newborn pattern says it fits up to 8lbs but fit my friend's daughter up till 10lbs (I didn't make any till my daughter was 8months so didn't get to try them on her - have made several newborn ones for the next bubba though)
To make it cheaper, I just use nylon as the waterproof layer in the newborn nappies seeing as they won't fit as long, with a layer of cute polar fleece over top for added protection/cuteness. Nylon doesn't last as long as PUL (got maybe 4 months out of the first nylon nappies I made for my daughter before they stopped being waterproof, which is plenty of time for the newborn ones). You can make about 8 nappies out of 1metre of fabric.
I use PUL and minky for the bigger sizes though
Sorry for the essay lol, I'm a wee bit obsessed with making nappies

will upload some pics of the different wee weka sizes for you so you can see what they look like...
