Topic: 20 week scan nerves..... Posted: 22 December 2008 at 6:26pm |
It's our 20 week scan tomorrow- I can't believe we're there already in some ways!- and I am feeling SO nervous about it! It's like every other scan I've had lol where I have been terified then too. I am just still so nervous at times like this that something will go wrong with this pg.....
I think cos I'm still not feeling bubba move consistently, just flutters and rolls still and I can go a day or so without feeling much at all. My mw isn't worried in the least, said that's normal and heaps of women don't even feel the first movement til later than 20 weeks, but I guess I am scared that tomorrow we'll turn up and find something bad has happened to bubba. There's no reason to think this other than my previous m/c's and my being a worrywart lol.
Anyone else have nerves before their 20 weeks scan and have it all turn out ok?

Is normal to be worried before a scan. I was worried before my 20 week scans but both times all has been good and I was worried despite feeling baby all the time.
Are you going to find out the flavour?

Im nervous too, mines tomorrow.
I told my midwife that I was really worried - she told me I should be nervous before every scan!!! Well least to say that didnt help! I just sat there and said - oh.
Im just trying to keep busy.

Cuppatea- yes we are going to find out the flavour but (try and) keep it secret from the family...there's A LOT of pressure/ expectation on us to have a girl which maybe isn't helping my worry cos I really don't care....just after all our dramas I want a healthy bubba!!!!

We didn't tell anyone what flavour Spencer was even though we knew.....hehehe, they still think that we didn't find out until the day.

I remember standing in the shower before my scan (which I had at 18 weeks) with Caitlyn just praying my baby would be ok , I was so nervous, she was fine tho .
You may just have a very chilled out baby in there that doesnt feel the need to kick you every five minutes
good luck for your scan , im sure it will go well, and I hope you get to find out the "flavour" , cant wait to read your update tomorrow

I hadn't felt ANY movement by 20 weeks so yep was really worried about bubs. Needless to say he was (and still is) absolutely fine I found that gap between the 13 week scan and the 20 week scan so hard - tummy was growing but wasn't much other evidence that baby was ok you know? Since I've been feeling regular movements it's much easier to feel secure that all is ok

Good luck... I know what you mean about feeling a bit that you are this far along already, cos its scary for me too that after not expecting anything to happen for a couple more years, in exactly one months time we will know what flavour our bubs is!
Crossing fingers you get a good 'potty shot' and get to go on a big shopping spree soon

My 20 week scan with our first baby was traumatic to say the least, so I was an emotional wreck for the anatomy scan for our second baby (all was good!). There's not too much you can do I suppose, nerves are all part of it for some of us, but and good luck for tomorrow, and hope bubba is healthy and shows you the goods!!!!

Woohoo you are half way!
I wasn't nervous because I didn't feel that there was anything wrong..
Good luck, it is such a special scan! I'm sure I watched the dvd a hundred times over the next few weeks afterwards

I also didnt feel movements at 20 weeks, I think I was about 25 weeks before I could really feel her.
Its normal to be worried about any type of scan, I had a growth scan 2 weeks ago and that was scary, just hoping everything with bub will be fine.
At least you can see some cool pictures of your bubs face at the 20 week scan, I cried when we saw our little girl at the growth scan.

Thaks for your feedback ladies.....it's always good to hear others who have gone through similar feelings lol
I'm not feeling like anything is 'wrong'....it's more a general anxiety that something 'mght be' IYKWIM? I have had that a bit throughout this pg, I guess cos it hasn't been the smoothest ride and up until a few weeks ago, was still very sick.
Anyway, I guess all I can do is relax and pray lol....and I'll update you all when I get back this afternoon.
Flavour-wise....I'm thinking girl and DP is thinking boy. I dn't really mind either way!
