Wondered if anyone had any experience?

I have always carried quite small externally with this bubs (same with DS) but fundus height has always been fine. So, MW this morning thinks I am now only measuring 34 weeks and haven't grown in the last week

My gut feeling is that I just carry small and a long way back but I am definitely starting to worry/panic a bit now. I think the main concern is that there are low levels of fluid or the placenta is degrading but I was measuring fine last week.

I think I am a bit more worried because at 35 weeks I saw the back-up MW who said I was only measuring 30 weeks. She got a 2nd opinion in, though, who said that I was 35 weeks. I am now worried they got that wrong too!!!

I have an urgent growth scan at 10.30am tomorrow but that is hours away yet!! Has anyone got any experience of something similar?

TIA

Hey fellow april mummy

According to my midwife i am measuring a few weeks smaller aswell - had a scan last week and all is fine
She seems to think cause her head is down already - plus they seem to think she is long so her legs actually come back around and under my ribs...

I hope the growth scan goes well hun - i am sure it will

Hey, try not to worry! I was measuring small for weeks but my growth scan showed she was measuring fine, just a small baby. The midwife made me have a scan as she didn't think bubs would get to 6lbs.

I was a small baby as was my dp and bubs was born 6lb 13oz where I was 6 lb 11oz and dp was 7lb.

In the end mw said I just carry (hold her in) well.

I always measured exactly for my weeks pg but carried small if that makes sense. Then I went on to have a small bubs 2 weeks early. Jackson was 6lb 5oz.

As hard as it is, try not to worry. Let us know how you get on.

Yep I had the same thing, I was measuring behind & then got more behind around 32 weeks. I got sent for a scan to check the fluid levels & blood flow through the cord. It was all good, he was born about a week or so later anyway.

eta, I kinda found it a little amusing as I knew that I carried small with my daughter but their fears kinda rubbed off on me in the end.

Agree with this I carried my DS externally small but he came out roughly on time weighing 8lbs6oz. I wasn't worried at the time but you know how the mind races and works overtime!

It's hard, but try not to get stressed about it.

With my first pregancy I was measuring 2 weeks behind, but DS was born a surprising 9lbs 1oz!

Next pregnancy I was worried after the 12 weeks scan because bubs was measuring at the 97th%ile (lots of stress about another big baby), but by the end of the pregnancy I was measuring a full 5 weeks behind. A growth scan put DD at the 40th%ile (so just below average), but she was born 7lbs 15oz - well above average!

Now nearly 11 months later everyone still has me stressed as DD is now below the 3rd%ile - but that is a whole nother story!

Quick update - well, scan went well. Believe it or not, the estimated weight is actually 7lb so might be 'small for dates' but baby is right on the money!!! Everything measured well within normal so I can safely so I just hide the baby well

Thanks for all your advice and support!

You can tell people it's your "abs of steel"

Glad everything is looking good. DS was only 7lb 2-yay for smallish babies.

Thanks Odette - I don't think 'abs of steel' is a phrase that has ever been used about me!!

MY MW never took the fundas height measurements untill the very end, at 37 weeks I was measuring at 36 weeks and guess was baby wouldn't be bigger than 7 pounds. In the end she arrived full term (3 days late!) and was tiny wee at 5 pounds 7 ounces. She is doing great and is a chubby little miss now!

I was only measuring between 33 and 34 weeks when i was 40weeks and got sent for ALOT of scans that all showed bubs was fine and they thought she was going to be an 8lb bub. Don't worry too much about it (i know easier said then done). Your could just be carring a small baby that's sitting towards your back rather then out front. DD was born at 6'1 at 3 days overdue.

ITs all so variable isnt it. I had a scan at 36 weeks and was told the baby was already 7lb5oz. I thought BOLLOCKS as did my MW and my OB...well he was 9lb 2 when born. I carried smaller than with my 7lb 5 DS1 so you never can tell.
