Topic: 4/5 engaged at 33 weeks? Posted: 28 December 2011 at 4:13pm |
Does anyone know if it's normal for 2nd babies to be engaged so early? I'm only 33 weeks and really want at least another month for her to cook before she arrives! DD was induced at 2 weeks overdue, and didnt engage until 41 weeks so I'm a bit freaked out

With my wee girl (first baby) she was engaged at about 34 weeks and went on to be 5 days overdue, so does not necessarily mean they will be early.

I know it's normal for first babies to be - and that it really doesn't mean anything about when they'll come, Jacob was 4/5 engaged from about 30 weeks and went two weeks over.
This baby has been engaged (but only 3/5, I think, I'd have to check my notes) from about 32 weeks, and so far no sign of an early arrival

My first was 4/5 engaged at 33 weeks - locked and loaded by 35 - was a very uncomfy few weeks waiting or her arrival at 38 + 3 second was so high at 40+2 they had to push her down during my section!
No way of telling either way I would imagine.... good luck!!! so exciting!!!

#2 was just like that. Locked and loaded at 35 weeks - after being Transverse for a couple of weeks - and came at 38+2.

#1 was fully engaged at 35 weeks and arrived at 39w4d
#2 not engaged at all and arrived at 35w5days So in my case being engaged worked opposite lol
I hope she stays put for you a little longer

Lily was always 2 or 3/5 engaged but the day I went into labour she was 4/5 engaged and the midwife was convinced I wouldn't be pregnant in a weeks time but I'm not sure how she came to that conclusion... I guess I should have rested but I went about my normal daily activities and waters broke 9 hours later.

Thanks girls!
I was starting to freak out that it meant she was definitely coming early, and we are soooo not ready yet! All of the clothes she will be wearing are still in the attic lol, really need to get my A into G!
I'm still not sure whether I prefer having a bum jammed in my ribs, or feeling like I've got a bowling ball between my legs
Troutpout mouth signing off (tongue in cheek, Hopes will get it hehe)
