Anyone tried this? There was an article about it in the Herald Canvas magazine...sounded like it was worth a try. Anyone keen to share their experience? Mum, DH & I are going to try it over the next couple of weeks, it supposedly has health benefits besides weight loss which is why I'm extra keen to try it before starting TTC #2 in Dec. Sounds very faddish....
I'm curious, what are you going to eat on the 5 days that aren't considered pigging out?
Are you going to exercise as well?

Well i suppose it will work cause all you are really dong is starving yourself for 2 days a week. i would worry that you would over eat on the other days to over compensate for the 2. Much easier to eat a balanced meal every day of the week IMO.

I'm looking at it as a type of kick-start to get me off my plateau rather than a long term thing as even with eating around 1300 cals (of balanced meals) a day and exercise I have stopped losing weight which is really getting me down so I'm really hoping that this will help! On other forums and blogs I've read people call them feast days and eat what I assume is more than they normally would eat but then others eat "normally" I'll be keeping my calories between 1300 - 1500cals and doing my normal amount of exercise.

It wouldn't be for me, but I can see why it could work in theory. However, the article was kind of weird. I would have thought there was a pretty decent difference between being born with lower levels of a hormone and lowering them by fasting (and also, being a mouse or a dwarf might make a difference!). Also, they say fasting lowers these levels, but there's no discussion about how long a fast has been proven to, and whether two days is enough, and whether the difference is significant etc etc. Before I cut out food two days a week I'd want to know all that...

DH tried this, he can't stick to a diet for very long so was perfect for him and is actually surprisingly easy. The trick is to eat regularly so you don't get so hungry. Since veges are low calorie, you can fill up a bit more at dinner. Also you don't mind if you get a bit hungry because its only one day at a time.

I reading about it in the HFG as they were comparing some diets.
To those who have done it how much have you lost & have you kept it all off?

I ended up losing about 2kg while doing it but I didn't do it properly as I wasn't in the right mindset, I would eat more the day before thinking oh well i can eat this today since I'm "not eating" tomorrow. Not a good mind frame to be in. However Mum lost 5-7kg on it, not exactly sure of kg amount but she's continiuing on with it as it worked well for her.

A raw desert recipe can be amazing to eat. They are healthy and free sugars that you might get with traditional recipes. One of the recipe's that you might want to try out is the orange chocolate cheesecake. The texture looks nice and the taste should be delicious. It could be a great recipe to make during the holiday season.

   will do thanks...
don't know if I could do 500cal 2 days a week & not worry about the other 5 days though. Think I need more structure & stick to 1200 cals a day.

Am a very foodie person, still I have tried intermittent fasting but not getting satisfactory result from it. Then I start workout in GYM as well as yoga at home to lose weight which I feel much better than intermittent fasting.
