Topic: 6 wks vaccines & beyond Posted: 17 March 2007 at 10:18am |
Gina is due for her 6 weeks vaccines next week and I'm just curious what others have done. There is so much conflicting info out there it is difficult to know what to do. I'm also not sure if I should leave it until her corrected age is 6 weeks or vaccinate next week? She's only meant to be 1 week old

well, i'm no help really because mikey wasn't prem but i still did wait until 8 weeks to vaccinate him, i just had a real hard time coming to terms with my baby getting pricked.
hopefully some of the mothers who's babies were born early can help you a bit more.

Joshua is due for his in 2 weeks and will be only 4 weeks (going by hospital dates) he will be having them done at 6 weeks going by birth. He is not having the MenzB jab thou, only the 2 normal ones.

I got Brnena done at 7 weeks (she was only born 4 days early). She had all 3 done...poor girl. I just figured that the diseases are worse than a bit of quick pain. In saying that though, brenna did have a reaction which was VERY scary! She has had her 2nd lot done, and they went a bit better, so fingers crossed for the next ones.
I'm not sure what you'd do about gettin her done by her 'birth'day or when she would have been 6 weeks if born on tme... There's a number you can ring which should help you 0800 IMMUNE

I think you should go talk to your dr. If it was me I would actually wait. And with the next one I am going to wait a bit as well. I gave McKayla her 6 weeks shots exactly on 6 weeks and I delayed the next ones with 10 days and it made a big difference.
I am delaying her MMR shots as well with quite a few months. (she had measles done in SA at 9)
But go talk to your dr.

I would wait, but check with your Dr or plunket.
Isla is due her 5 month injections this week, and each time we get the Menzb injection done 2 weeks after the other 2 injections, cos I dont like the idea of her getting 3 at once. We just told the nurse we wanted to do this, and its been fine.

The gremlins were 37-weekers (but actually more like 36 coz the midwife and I fiddled the dates to make the OB induce and they had their 6 week imms at 6 weeks. I held off the MenzB for similar reasons to Kellz, not wanting them to have three at once, and also so I could isolate the cause if they reacted. They werefine with the 6 week ones, had their 3 month ones plus first MenzB at 4 mths (coz we were away overseas) and will have their second MenzB and 5 mth shots in a couple of weeks.
