Topic: Abdo pain at (nearly) 11 weeks Posted: 14 October 2008 at 12:34pm |
I am seeing my mw tomorrow for my first visit anyway but just looking for some reassurance for now. I woke up last night with quite bad pain low down on my left side. Kinda between by pubic bone and hip. I'm telling myself it is just the stretching and growing going on down there. Anyone else have/had this? I think I'm going to worry about every little niggle this entire pregnancy!

Sounds like ligament stretching to me. I would probably just mention it to your mw tomorrow to reassure yourself.

I had some strong pains around the same time. Had me a bit worried but they eased and nothing was wrong. Talk to your MW anyway.

It may just be that a lot of people haven't experienced it first hand as every pregnancy is different.
But I've heard of all kinds of aches and pains. There's a lot happening down there.
Keeping in mind the uterus is (roughly) the size of a 50 cent coin normally (about 3 inches long).
A 12 week fetus is about the same length - not to mention the placenta etc, so there's bound to be lot of twinges and niggles and pressing of neves in the area.
Your midwife will be able to reassure you, and she'll most likely listen to bub's heartbeat.
I'm sure all is well
I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry

I wasnt gonna say any thing....and just Lurk....as I think the other ladies have said it all.....I also think its stretching...you will feel alot of that aound this time.
Even tho baby is small...the placenta is growing and its just body getting prepared to be BIG!!
However if yu are worried, call your MW and ask for a scan. Its better to have one done than worry your self sick! You dont really need that right now!

I am still getting mild AF like pains (especially if Im stressed ) and the stretching when i move suddenly is quite painful. Sounds pretty normal hun.
Just mention it to your mw, she will reasssure you!

Mrs B- it's funny (in a weird way) that you mention this pain co today I've noticed an achy type of feeling too and I'm a week behind you! Combined with my ongoing off again/ on again brown discharge stuff I'm quite freaked out but my mw seems to thinkits all within the boundries of 'normal'. If I get *really* stressed I'm gonna go get another scan but I've had 3 already and like the mw said, I could have a scan tomorrow and then start bleeding the next day so although that wasn't terribly reassuring, it was fairly realistic and I appreciated her honesty.
I don't think you have anything to worry about but I do empathise cos I know how had these weeks are.

i get wiked pains especially in the middle of the night. like the kind where you cant stand up cos you feel you are going to over stretch. i get them down the side when i stretch or try to roll over. dont stress too much cos form what i have heard they are normal. i sneezed when lying on my back the other nite and burst into tears cos it hurt so much.

i had those pains in all three of my pregnancies.
more so with my most recent one. I had quite a bit of pain around the same time as you and I was worried too but it was just strectching etc and nothing to worry about.
I also got quite a bit of spotting from 8 - 11 weeks which scared the crap out of me, but apparantly is quite normal, since i talked to 4 of my froiends that have had babies and they all had it too .
and i went on to have perfect babies.
Try not to stress too much it sounds totally normal.:)

When I was preg with DS I ended up in hospital the pain was so sore. They told me it was just stretching pain to which I wanted to kick them for. I spent three days in bed in such pain then finally went to my GP who refered me to scans. It turned out that I just had a very sensitive section in my abdomn and there was nothing they could do but it did get better after a while.
