Not off the top of my head but if you cant find anywhere or no one has any suggestions let me know and I will find out for you cos hubbies parents run apartments over there (prob not the cheapest though) but they can give me info on car hire and cheaper places to stay and any other info you want.
How exciting, when are you going?

Hi there,
We just had a holiday in the Gold Coast last month and we found accommodation through www.lastminute.com.au - there are always really good specials advertised.

If you go to www.drivenow.com.au it compares all the prices of the car rental places and tells you who is the cheapest.

We stayed at the Beach Palms apartments in Palm Beach, cost me around $300 for Maya and I for 7 nights, it was ridiculously cheap.

We stayed at Sante Anne by the Sea at Broadbeach. Would highly recommend it and am going back there again for 8 nights in July! Reasonably priced, central and easy walking distance to Pacific Fair. They are quite spacious units with big kitchens. website

runaway cove
We have just booked here for our holiday its costing us about $1300nz for 9 nights in the 3 bedroom apartment for 6 of us so i thought that was really resonable. MY friend, who lives on the coast said its a really nice area and handy to public transport. They also do bookings through TradeMe so its really good to have a NZ person that you can discuss things with.

I think everyone is going to Surfers!! We are going over there on the 11th May for 2 weeks (delayed Honeymoon). we are flying Emirates (they were only $6 more then freedom air cause they had a sale!!), staying at aristocrat apartments. For flights and accom was $2200 for both of us which I thought was good and we hae pre paid theme parks, bus travel pass (set rate for 24/7 for the 2 weeks!)
We got told to stay away from rental cars, just for the fact that we were comparing it to the bus and it worked out cheaper on the bus, downside to the bus is we cant just jump in and drive somewhere but hey if we get lost on the bus we know we will eventually get back to where we started!!!
Have a good break just do your research and you will be sweet!! If you go into a travel agent and just enquire they might be able to help you to but then they only deal with one or two companies...(tried google??)

okay hopefully someone here will have somewhere i can go.... I can get cheap rental car hire but my hubby and mum reckon we should catch busses and air train. soooo have just done prices on the air train website and its going to be $740 australian for the 6 of us. So wondering if there is any cheap booking offices or anything? Also to but tickets for the theme parks?

lol if my family make it over to brissy / GC we have places to stay(my best mate lives on the GC and Naths sis lives in brissy) so that cuts down our accom expenses drastically(would still pay something for the use of their power etc etc)

Maria you can go online and book the theme parks or if you are staying a a hotel etc.. they can get them for you.
Not sure about the airtrain thing though. We have always hired a car for the ease of getting around, specially with kids and the cost is about the same. Last time we had a big group and rented an 8 seater, it was great, managed to fit in so much shopping!!! oh and the kids hehe

yeah i want to buy the entertainment book but i guess i will have to wait until we are over there to get that as i cant find anyone in NZ that sells them.
Robyn it works out about half the price for car rental vs public transport but hubby and mum think that public transport will be more fun
