Topic: advice, thoughts any help please! Posted: 09 March 2010 at 9:05am |
Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has some insight really!
I found out I was pregnant 2 1/2 weeks ago, then started bleeding the next day and past a clot. So I thought it was all over.
Went to the GP who ordered HCG levels and a scan. My HCG levels over the last 2 weeks have gone from 24 to 36 to 43 yesterday so they aren't increasing as they should but aren't decreasing either. The scan showed ALOT of blood but at exactly 6 weeks they couldn't tell if there is a heartbeat.
Not knowing if my baby is alive or not is doing my head in! And they just keep telling me to wait another week!!! Has this happened to anyone, any thoughts or anything? Thanks in advance

Oh gosh hun, Im sorry I cant really offer you any advice, but didnt want to read and run!!
Those levels do not sound good at all, but I have read (thanks Dr Google) about how some womens levels are really slow to increase and still have healthy bubbas. Are you still bleeding? How much?
Sending you big hugs, it is horrible to be in limbo.

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago. Here is my thread about it in the planning section. Unfortunately for me, it wasn't a good ending.
Being in limbo completely sucks. DH would ask me if I was still pregnant....all I could say was, technically I am (anything over 5 is a positive test). I hope you do get some answers soon, by way of scan or blood tests.

I spotted then bled (and lost that baby), this pregnancy I spotted at the same time (6 and a half weeks) for 4ish days, but it was my cervix that was causing it (after a scan and a visit to A and E cos I was sure I was losing it) which after an internal on the monday (origionally went to the GP on Fri, scan on Fri, A and E on Sat, back to the GP on Mon) who said my cervix was closed and it was irritated a bit. Then my mind was finally at ease (a little, the scan had put me back a week and I was sure of my dates!), after a very long weekend!
I would think the fact the bleeding has stopped must be a good thing. (I have had no MS, so I wouldnt use that as an indicator). But the amount of blood shown on the scan doesnt sound too good. Argh I really dont know, Im sorry! When is your next scan? Could you ask for it to be after 4 days from the last one? Or ask for an internal? (not very pleasant, but if your cervix is closed its a good sign)

how stupid I'm sitting here waiting for responses but it's keeping me sane!
Yeh I'll ask my GP for an internal, not to worried what I have to go through as long as I know it's driving me nuts and I'm so grumpy biting everyones head off esp DH and my GP who keep saying just wait we'll find out in the next couple of weeks. I couldn't cope another week like this!
I'm glad this pregnancy is going well for you Emmi.
And minik8 it is soo good to hear I'm not the only one though I'm sorry it didn't have a happy ending and that you had to go through it :(

I have to look on the bright side jjands...if it hadn't happened, I wouldn't have my girls now Very definitely sucked at the time though.
I would ask for serial HCG tests at 2 days apart. Waiting a week is cruel.

Yeah I too would ask for something to be done sooner. Gosh its times like that that you wish you could hibernate for a week or so to fast forward all the waiting.
And your totally not stupid for waiting! Im sure that most of us have all been there (for one reason or another)
Gosh Kate, I read your thread... I just wanted to give you a big hug!

Hi - big hugs - it must be really scary. A similar thing happened to my SIL and she has just given birth to a gorgeous wee girl. I've got my fingers crossed for you.

I had a bleed at 6weeks, they sent me for a scan and could only see the gestational sack and a dot in the middle (too small to see HB), i then had to wait until 8weeks to have another scan (longest wait of my life!). But at that scan everything was aok! They said some of the bleed could have been implantation into the uterous wall and bla bla bla, but seemed like no-one knew and i just went 2 weeks without a clue what was going on! So fingers crossed for you and NAG the GP/MW whoever to get things done, sometimes they are just a bit slack TBH!

I had a big bleed with my first at 6 weeks, went for a scan & had to wait & see & all was well. Had bleeding on & off. I would not go for an internal & my Dr said not to BD till we knew for sure.
I also had spotting with all of mine. I never knew to ask for HCG tests results & glad I didn't as that would of added to the stress.
Unfortunately there is not much you can do right now, you need to wait till a scan can show a heart beat, don't worry about bloods.
What will happen will happen & you can not prevent it but you can help, you need to try & relax & not stress to much as that won't help matters, & I know it is not easy to, but put your feet up, have a cuppa.

oh & just to add I didn't have morning sickness early in pg. So don't worry about pg symptoms not everyone has them & early in pg.
