What are your thoughts? We've been approached to join up. I'm not sure, DH is keen. To me it seems like a lot of money to join up...

And to be honest, I think I'm too lazy to do the ordering and waiting for stuff to turn up, when I can shoot to the shop, yes I'll pay retail, but I know the products, and I enjoy going to the shop (how sad?!)
And the money making scheme looks like it'll take a lot to actually make money...
 Your thoughts? Be honest please

Wow didn't know Amway was still around. My parents did Amway when I was about 8 and stuck with it for a couple of years. I really don't think they made any money out of it - they did make loads of frineds though

I would avoid it. Both my parents and DP have been apart of it before and when you try to get out...seriously, they hunt you down and keep hasling you to rejoin or buy stuff. 20 years down the track after moving cities and house, my parents still get letters and stuff from them. I'm sure they must have knocked them out at a meeting and implanted tracers on them

my ex was completely into it before i met him and went along with him to see what it was about. personally i think its too expensive and there is so much negative association with the company that itd be too hard to get people to sign up to get your numbers and stuff. having said that, there are people that really do make a go of it and can make alot of money.

i prefer to just pop down to the shops and grab what i need, and it would PMO if i ordered washing powder or something then there was a delay and i had to wait for it, or go buy some from the store, then it turn up anyway etc.

I was interested to start with because of the home-business type thing. but Ive started doing Avon and actually prefer it.... i prefer the face-to-face contact and the fact that its more of well known and more respected company. and you can still get into doing the "downline" thing if you are interested...

So much money for so much work and even then you dont make anything! Be aware that if you decide to go to a meeting, they'll preach at you like they do in a church and really try to convince you to join. DO LOTS OF RESEARCH!!!!!!! I sold the jewellery and makeup for years and hardly made a cent. Great stuff, but really expensive and people werent that keen on it.

A really bad stigma is attached to it, has been for quite a few years. The first thing that springs to mind is pyramid scheme. Also, if someone goes around asking you to spend money to make money, it's usually a con. Just my opinion anyway, after seeing a few family members get sucked in by Amway.

   Ditto to Emz
Be cautious - you usually find these schemes really sound attractive but at the end of the day they aren't. They are good at selling the concept.

We got approached to join something very similar in the last year or two (think they used the amway website, and made you make up your own business name etc). We did a bit of research and looked at products and websites and rejected the idea. Too expensive and seemed a bit pyramid schemish to me. Plus I didn't like the look of the products. They said you can get all your groceries there, but a bit of investigation showed I wouldn't ordinarily buy much they offered.
Not worth it IMO

   hey,
my parents did it for a while when we were younger, and yes it doesn't have a good name and they prolly lost money on it b4 getting out. They are very pushy, in fact (slightly off topic) but the thing I remember most is that my dad wrote off the car in a crash on the way home from a late night meeting of theirs, fell asleep at the wheel :P.
