I am still feeling bad about this and was awake most of the night trying to work out how I let it happen...

Last night we went to a friends for dinner, we didnt get home untill after 10 and both girls still wern't in bed. Maddi finally fell asleep in the car, and we didnt want to wake her too much so carried her whole seat in and dropped her in the Kitchen by the front door. Keira was starting to get grizzly so we quickly got her down. By this stage we were pretty tired (from two nights of only 4 hours sleep) so thought we'd just head off to bed. Eventually got the house shut down and fell asleep the second my head hit the pillow.

Some time later (maybe 30 minutes) I was woken by a squaking coming from the kitchen...... I had forgotton Maddi Gosh I felt terrible - what if she hadn't woken and didnt find her until the morning.... Lets just say she got a few extra cuddles from Mummy last night.

So to stop me feeling so bad, feel free to share your own 'bad mummy' moments. I wont tell anyone else, I promise

Awwww hehe, at least she was safe in the house

I have a number of times been walking through door ways holding Caden and his head has hit the door frame Once he got a huge bump and burst into tears.
I felt soo soooo bad after that time and sat and cuddled him and said sorry over and over again after about 1 min he was FINE and giggling and smiling and wanted to get off my lap.
I still felt bad lol

Aw hun, that's totally understandable considering your lack of sleep and as Sheena said at least she was in the house.  She was safe.

I gave Michaela a bleeding lip a couple of months ago .  I was tidying up the lounge while talking on the phone and I picked up the popcorn bowl which was mostly empty and had been sitting untouched for about 30mins.  I walked off to take it to the kitchen and Michaela yelled "wait mummy" so I spun around and she ran into / I whacked her in the mouth with the bowl.  The bowl cut her outer lip and her front teeth cut her gum so there was a tonne of blood and it took ages to calm her down.  I felt sooooo awful because I'm meant to protect her from harm and I was the one that injured her.

Lol I had to have a little giggle, at least Maddi was somewhere safe.

And I'm with Sheena on the bumping head on doorframe, even now that still happens with us (but it's usually Lucas' fault because he does that arching head back thing when he's getting geared up to throw a paddy).

I felt bad yesterday, he kept trying to climb on my bed, I got sick of pulling him off continuously so I told him if he hurt himself it was his own fault, seconds later he rolls off the side and managed to somehow get the inside of his mouth caught on the drawer knob (metal one) as he fell and it cut the inside of his mouth and bled quite a bit. I tell you though, he must've learnt his lesson. He hasn't tried to get on my bed and jump since! Today the inside of his mouth is just a little swollen, but still at the time you panic when you see blood

I'm sure we all have our moments, and I swear sometimes their purpose in life is to test our patience

i let Catriona wriggle out of my arms one morning and she fell back onto the stove top and got small cut on her head (i felt absolutely awful for ages and still dont like thinking about it). She seems to have forgiven me though . . .

Not a Mummy moment, but when we were in the UK i left the dog outside all night when it was quite cold and i felt pretty damn awful about that as well!

And It wasnt just my fault, I thought DH would have checked she was in bed and he just assumed I had checked.... ahh now I know what little sleep can do to you.

I had just read that in the April thread Daizy, you must have been tired.

The worst thing I ever did, was when Janaya was about 10 months old. We had parked the car in the kerb and I got out to pull the pushchair out of the boot. DH for some reason, was sitting in the front seat and decided to unbuckle her seatbelt. I went around to open her door, assuming she was belted in (As you do) and then started pulling the buggy out and next thing I heard a scream and she had fallen out of the car into the kerb
We took her straight to A&E, it was so awful,
We still argue about whos fault it was.
Mummy to two beauties... Formerly Kaiz.

Will share my mums story:

I was about 6 weeks old and she walked me down to the supermarket in my pushchair. She did her groceries and wandered back home.

She got in the door with her 2 bags when my Dad asked where I was.

Yip, you guessed it....she had left me at the supermarket in one of the aisles.

Great start to motherhood!

Aww Daizy don't worry she was perfectly safe.

My bad mummy moment - I accidently caught Rowan's finger when I was clipping her nails when she was about 2 months old. Oh and this morning I made her face plant trying to push her out of the bathroom one handed (and she decided she didn't want to go so stopped crawling).

My Mum left me in the car for 10mins when I was about a month old (born in Jan) because they were desperately trying to find a new place to live and she was so caught up with checking a house she forgot she had a baby.

Bobbie you just reminded me (it was quite recent too so I must have blocked it from my memory) I shut Michaela's fingers in our car door last month.

We have a rule when we're in a carpark or near a road that she must keep her hand on the car, I'd opened the passenger door to put my shopping in so I could free my arms to put her in the car and her hand must have been on the doorframe because when I shut the passengar door there was something jammed in there.  There was this awful moment of silence when I looked at her and registered the shock and pain on her face and we both realised what had happened (me: that I'd jammed her fingers, her: that her hand hurt) and then the screaming began.

I climbed into the backseat of the car with her and cuddled/rocked her to calm her down and all she wanted was her daddy (who was at work) so I rang him so she could talk to him which is awful, hearing her try to talk while choking on tears and then she said "mummy hurt me"

Luckily chatting to daddy, mummy cuddles and a hasilty bought icecream fixed it.

Dh dropped Leah on her head when she was about 10 weeks old, only from about a foot and onto carpet with a cushion........but that freaked him out so much he wouldn't touch her for a while.

Tee Hee that is a little bit funny, I've cut the tip of Hayden's finger when clipping his nails - blood everywhere, I felt awful!!! Once we were at a coffee shop and I had Hayden in his car seat clipped into his buggy, had to take him out the carseat cos he wailed and when it was time to go I just popped him back in the car seat and put the blanket over him, he was a couple of months old. Then after wandering the shops I drove home without checking he was actually buckled in to the car seat!!!!! It was only a 5min drive but I felt sick, the capsule was secured to the car but the baby wasnt secured to the capsule

Dh has cut the tip off DS's thumb, many many tears, but my moment which I try and forget I put him in the car seat and he was screaming cos he was hungry but we were not far away from home so thought its only 5 mins best to get home and feed then, put pram in boot and set off.

He screamed the whole way, got back and realised I didn't do the straps up on his car seat - it was only a few minutes but I just couldn't believe I had forgotten, I felt so bad, funny only reading your story did I remember I did that, must have blocked it out.

When Charlotte was about 8 months old she was lying on my arm and I moved my hand out from under her. In the process I managed to slice the inside of her ear open with my engagement ring which had claws on it. Needless to say I took that ring off and haven't looked at it since as I felt so bad. (And DH bought me a new one).

I have also tried to shut the boot on her head - she leaned in while we were getting stuff out the car just as I bought the boot down.

I also felt soooo bad because I was putting her in the car couple of weeks ago and it was raining. I asked her not to stand on the seats and what did she do, she stood on the seats. I reacted by yelling at her and she then tried to explain herself. It ended up with her howling - it was just the look on her face. I felt terrible!

When Jayden was about 8 weeks old I had just fed him and was getting out of the chair where he kind of rolled out of my arm in slow motion as I was getting up and bounced on the carpet, he cried but by the time I got him upstairs to tell DH he and stopped and I was balling my eyes out! took him to the Dr and the Dr said everyone does something like that! and if it was him he wouldnt have told his wife (made me feel better!)

Dh has hit his head heaps when putting him in the carseat!

I also forgot once to strap the capsule into the car but he was strapped into the capsule! thank goodness we have a carseat now!

I don't have one yet - but I can tell my dad's story:

When I was about 2 dad was carrying me on a short bush walk. He had bare feet and the track was a bit muddy. He slipped, fell over and landed on my leg - breaking it.

The worst part was though - that neither of my parents believed me that it was broken and made me walk on it for a week before taking me to the doctors to get a cast.

Needless to say - they're both still wracked with guilt about it 27 years later. (It's always a useful bargaining tool when I need to borrow money! Mwah ha ha ha! )

aw hun, shouldn't laugh but that was pretty funny.

I hurt DD wrist quite bad from pulling her by the hand whilst I was on the phone trying to get her out of the toilet! I felt so guilty! Luckily it wasn't badly damaged.

And not that long ago DH was pushing DD on a swing that had no middle saftey belt thingy and the swing was high above a deck. He was talking to someone while pushing her and didn't hear her say she wanted to hop off and she did an almighty sumersault and landed flat on her back.I nearly had a heart attack!

ha, I could write 6 and a half years of bad mummy moments, some ive forgotten tho .
When she was about 2 months old she was in my bed with me , and I woke to this big thud,Id thrown her off the bed in my sleep , I felt so bad.

Another one that sticks in my mind is when C was nearly 2 and learnt how to use the guilt card, I told her off because she was running in and out of the rain , and she looked at me with her little lip trembling and tears in her eyes and said "I just love you too much mum "

now if I hurt her (always by accident ) she tries to milk it for all that its worth , but I give her a kiss and a cuddle and say Im sorry ...if she continues to go on , then thats her problem, ive said sorry , she knows it was an accident , and if I felt awful for every little mistake I accidentally make as a mum Id be spending all her life feeling bad and not acknowledging the good parts .

when my brother and sister were little (new born and toddler ) my mum left the handbrake off in her car and it went rolling down the hill with them inside (she managed to stop it, ran over her foot in the process)
I can understand that, I mean her eldest , and best child (me ) was now at school and she probably thought life was pointless

Ok hehe where do i start. I had my nanna staying over from Aus so i put her in Brydees and Jordans room and put them along with my 11 yr old in the bottom double bunk in my eldest daughters room.
I woke up at 12.20am and Jordy was grizzling so i put him in bed with us. All night he grizzled and i mean all night. The next day he ontined on with his grizzling and would not walk at all. I held him all day as it was so unlike him to grizzle for nothing.
I took him to the drs that night and she sent us up to the hospital. My poor wee Jordan (20 months) had snapped his collar bone in half!!!!
Apparantly he fell of my daughters bed.

when i was coming home from the hospital my mum and dad put me in the back seat in one of those cocoon things they had back in the day and went home. on the way someone pulled out in front of them and dad slammed on the brakes to avoid a crash. a bit startled they looked into the back seat to find i had disappeared. i'd gone flying off the seat to under the drivers seat in the bambina.
