Topic: Another WFF question... Posted: 01 December 2009 at 10:18pm |
Gah ok im in a bit of a tizz, and cant find anything on the website. Anyone able to tell me....
My DP has just got a big payrise, we had allowed 3grand on our estimate, but this has gone way over. So its going to make wff pointless so we will probably stop it. What im wondering is do you have to pay it back? I remember reading stuff about people having to pay it back if the earn over. But if we stop it now it should be ok??
Cheers if any one knows. Will get on the phone tomorrow *pulls hair out*

I've not had much experience sorry, but I imagine that should be fine, just ask them for any entitlements done in a lump sum at the end of the financial year. And once the amount that you've already received is spread out over the year I'd imagine it would probably balance out.

Can you log onto the IRD website? You can change it yourself.
You've got 4 months so it should work out alright. I'd definitely phone & question them on how it works. If it's just from this point forward or is it based on the whole year?

You will have to pay it back, sorry don't shoot the messenger. They work the entitlement out yearly so it doesn't matter if he was paid less earlier in the year. I would definitely stop it, or change it to a lump sum instead, and try to estimate again what his yearly wage will be with the new increase so you can work out what you might have to pay back.

Getting DP to ring, hes better at dealing with people lol. So will find out later on.
Its just from now on, so hopefully if its spread out over the year it wont be so over and we only have to pay back a smaller amount.
I tried asking if he could talk to his boss and take a small increase now and the rest in march or something so weither that could happen.
Thanks for your help, stopped me stressing all night.

Gosh they are confusing. Anyway we are stopping payments and it should balance out/they may owe us a little which will be paid in march. Feel stink because now my DPs payrise has to come pretty much straight to me

This is why I'm not going back to work until the new year. I figured the longer it took me to go back to work the more we have to pay back. I also am not sure if I underestimated what DP earns although I pretty much didn't earn anything this year, but we are moving back to mum and dads probably for three months which takes us through to March so that means I can stay home longer with DD and less likely to owe them anything as I will stop the payment when we are at mums as we won't need it then.
I know how you feel about taking DP's money I hate it too!
