I did come on here yesterday, but got incredible cold feet to post until my darling DP gave me a lecture today - so I am back. The reason I got stressed was because of the weight issue - I have always been super paranoid that Jassie is under-weight, despite re-assurance from Plunket and just about everyone I talk to it still gets to me, I feel like because she was born 3.87kg (just over the 85th percentile) she should have stayed that way and as it turns out that by two months old she was on the 15th percentile and has followed it up ever since.
So anyway after talking to my lovely friend Aethalia (of whom I have nappy-envy!!) I decided I was being silly and then when I came home and got a lecture from DP about how awesome our darling wee bubs is and how she is a super-turbo baby and not far off walking (OMG) and how on earth can I expect her to weigh anymore than she does as she is so active, I really decided I was being way more than silly
Big hugs Kim, so sorry for your loss, hope it goes okay for you at the hospital, thoughts and prayers are with you xx
Can totally relate to all those having financial difficulties, it sucks big time!! Hope things work out for everyone
Good news on the sleeping front here - for the first time in a year I had six hours sleep!! Jassie went to sleep last night at 7.45pm I fed her at 10.30pm and then she grizzled a bit until 10.50pm and then at 5.45am DP says to me, how did Jassie go last night, and I totally freaked out - leapt out of bed and straight into her room, she gave me a big grin it was so gorgeous!!
Yay Jules for both bubs sleeping at once, that must be awesome!!
Kerry that is good that you got a second opinion on your teeth - you must be feeling a bit better, still not the best but better than you thought and well done on your assignment (you really must have been knackered today!!) Isn't it so cute when they start to talk
Oh dear crying bubs, I hope this isn't how the night is going to go
Kim sorry to hear things didn't go as planned. big to you and your family.
Bunny I know what its like to be paranoid about the weight of the little one. Toby is still way down, I am not sure what he is now but he was only 7.16 at 9months and 66cm tall. He looks tiny beside some of the other babies who are younger but he he thriving he is flying around and not far off walking so I have decided that if the doctors aren't worried then I am not going to. Thats the theory anyway.
I hear you on the money worries, DH hasn't worked for the last 3 weeks as he has been ill so he doesn't get paid as he is a contractor. Hopefully we will be back on track next week.
We have decided that we are definatly not staying here in Ireland, there really isn't anything for the boys so looks like we will heading off again. We have pretty much decided that we will try Oz would prefer to go back to Welly but the market is too small for DH so we would be better off over there. We haven't told anyone yet going to get it sorted out first. I think we will get DH sponsored then take it from there.
Hope you are all not to hot, its freezing here looks like more snow at the weekend
Nice to hear from you Shelley, sounds like Toby is doing really well! Look forward to hearing more about your move back this way. Oz is a good second choice to Welly!
Sorry Bunny (and Shelley and Kim) I hope I didn't offend with my comment about Charlotte's weight - did not think before engaging mouse. I just think babies are like all people, they come in different shapes and sizes - Zoe takes after DH's side of the family. Sorry again, I didn't mean to make it a competition, I love all babies, big and small - especially my Minnie Mouse!
Massive YAY for Jas sleeping through the night, isn't it a shock when they sleep later than you? Long may it last!
Gorgeous day in Welly today. Hope it lasts for the weekend.
Oh no Bridget you didn't offend me in any way at all, please don't think that, nobody did, it's just my own silly paranoia (sp?) and you're right all babies are gorgeous just the way they are
Hey Shelley - nice to hear from you, looks like we are heading to the same spot - we are leaving in April to stay in Tasmania for probably a year or so (Robbie's family is there) where in Oz will you be going?
Not so good last night, Jas didn't want much of a feed at 10pm so was hungry in the night - yes I fed her it was too much to know that she was hungry and not feed her, I feel too mean. Oh well was still better than what was happening, she still slept in her own bed, will try again tonight
Another beautiful day here, lunch in Washbourne Gardens with Mum today so should be nice.
Bunny I think we all worry about our babies no matter what size they are too. I too didn't want to post Zoe's weight because she is at the other end of the scale - almost off it! We now are thinking "Oh my god are we overfeeding her?' but she is tall so the PN wasn't concerned. She really loves her food & we don't feed her anything not good for (apart from the occasional biscuit) & she is only on 3 bottles a day averaging 400-500ml a day of fomula. But she has just starting crawling last week so she should thin out a bit now. As for my back though....carrying an 11kg baby is hard work!
She is just thriving at preschool, they had 'messy play' the other day where the kids played in a tray of flour! Zoe was right in there; must take after her dad cause her mum hates getting dirty! Hard though not getting home till just before she goes down or she already is asleep. I really miss her, but found out yesterday that I due a good payrise this year - thank goodness! It's been 2 years!
She's still got a runny nose, but also still sleeping though. Maybe she's one of those girls that will just keep getting them?
Aethalia, what a wonderful collection of nappies you have!
Bunny, great comments from Bridget, we all come in different sized/shaped packages. Big, small and inbetween! I'm sure your wee J is just perfect!! I would of feed her too, and your right, at least she is sleeping in herown bed! That is huge progress in itself.
Shelly, great to hear from you. Sounds like you and DH have made some big decisions. Yay for the Aussie move.
Blondie, thats great Z is doing so well at daycare. Yes you will miss her alot but YAY to the payrise!!!
K is full on crawling and is very happy with herself. She is pulling up on everything and even lets go for a second or 2 when standing!! She is very busy and still not settling very well for day sleeps (or for long) but still sleeping well at night so I shouldn't complain.
Bunny - Our babies are exactly the same weight and almost height. Although we all do worry to make sure our little ones are getting the right goodness and growing well, we are all different. My oldest was almost the same weight and height that C is now and shes perfect in every way at 2 1/2 years. Smaller than most kids but that doesn't stop her at all.
Maisey - YAY Kate!!!! I can't believe how fast they go from getting their crawl on to almost standing up and walking away from you. No wonder we were all complaining about lack of sleep.
Shelly - Big decisions in your household. Sometimes you have to try these things so that you know when your settled your in the right place for you and your family
Blondie - woohoo to a payrise!!! I hope daycare took photos of Zoe in amongst it
Also remembered you asked about the percetiles for C. She in the 15th for weight and just about that for her height.
We had our last daycare visit today. Another perfect sleep by C. But still only 40ish mins.
The first proper day is Tuesday where I will be bawling my eyes out leaving her. I've already warned the teachers lol.
DH is looking after both girls on Mon as I have teacher only day. And luckily he has 3 weeks off so will be able to pick up C if shes not coping.
Right better go and teach H some more ABCs. Shes currently learning her name and yells out the letter H whereever we go.
Haha, and now shes hovering over me asking me where my money is lol.
Mango you will be so fine!! I really thought that Id be a mess leaving Z but they have so much fun! And yes they did take some photos of her. They need to many extra clothes each day as you never know what mess they are going to get in.
I have been doing a dream feed at 10.30 is but thought would see what would happen if did not.....they went to bed at 6.45pm and miss woke at 6.45 am and he at 7.11! (M did grizzle for about 1/2 a min at 5.20 and thought oh no no dream feed means a wake up too early ! but by the time I was moving out of bed he stopped so we both went back to sleep!) Fingers crossed they do it again - am tempted to give them custard and fruit again for tea as they ate heaps so that may have helped!
Then they had an 1 1/2 hr sleep from 9.30 I gave them lunch early and met a friend in town she was trying on wedding dress for second time and decided to get it! She is getting married March 12 and got engaged in November (she is not pregnant everyone asks!) I am a bridesmaid so that will be fun.
Also went to tattoo shop as DH is getting one for each child. He has made really cool designs I think. I don't have any tattoos so hopefully I can go and watch him getting some of it done! They were so busy he is booked in for March!
Babies back in bed now I how well they are sleeping now! Better eat some lunch and do some boring old housework I guess..
Just got back from the doctors and it appears I have laringitus Have been really more and more rubbish over the last few days but woke last night feeling like my throat was on fire - not nice! DH convinced me to go into the doctors and Im glad I did - would have taken a looooooooong time to clear on its own, if at all aparently.
Even more glad my assignment is done now so I dont have to do anything other than the basics
Blondie - yay to the messy play. Glad Z is going well at daycare
Maisey - yay Kate!! So cute when they start moving huh!
Mango - glad C slept well at daycare. Hope Tuesday goes ok for you all
Jules - awesome stuff with M & Is sleep! You must feel a million bucks!! So nice when they sleep how the books say they should haha
Well Im going to go blob on the couch.
Any plans for the long weekend?
Bunny - remember that their birth weight and centiles is directly related to the nourishment they get in the womb. Their centile and weight once they are born is dependent on them as an individual. It is far from unusual for them to drop/ go up centiles to match their individual metabolism etc. As long as she is eating well and is generally healthy don't worry .... she is just going to be small but perfectly formed
Still thinking of you Kim
Yay for bubbas sleeping through the night too!!
Sorry to hear Ireland isn't working out for you Shelly. At least the boys have had a bit of time with the grandparents before heading back.
BBL - littlest is awake
Caroline, SAHM to 2 boys, S (4 years old) and J (2 years old)
Thanks all for your comments - it is so nice to talk about how I feel, and admit that it is my issue and no-one elses. Jassie is perfect just the way she is, Mummy just has to chill out
Blondie - preschool for Zoe sounds awesome, I just love messy play for kids, it makes them so happy
Maisey - Kate sounds just like Jassie, the holding on with one hand is a bit scary isn't it and Jassie stood by herself today (only for a second or two)
Mango - totally understand how you must be feeling, we are talking about putting Jassie into preschool for a couple of mornings a week so I can help with our business, it's certainly a big step, but having worked in a preschool before I know how much kids love it and how good it is for them - you will be fine and so will C
Yay Jules for babies sleeping thru - that is fantastic!! And baby tattoos, what a lovely idea
Kerry hope you are feeling better soon, you deserve that blob on the couch
Long weekend here too, no plans to do anything - other than the normal I guess, housework, washing - hopefully go to the beach and swim
Sounds like Jassie is waking up - the monitor is buzzing, now that we are doing the routine thing Jassie is sleeping heaps better too - it must be so good for them
On the weight thing, funnily enough K was one of the heaviest babies born in this thread, running at close to 97th percentile for weight. She has now dropped to 50th for both weight and height, and while gaining height is not gaining weight (not losing it either) it means she is headed down the centiles for weight , it just makes me worry sometimes that i don't feed her enough. In saying that she scoffs down anything I give her until shes had enough and then plays with it. She is far too super active for any fat to stay that way, she is really strong.
Kerry poor you on the laryngitis and yay on getting the assignment done.
Hope Tuesday goes well with the daycare, sounds like Zoe is coping really well.
DP has applied for a new job, if he gets it I may have to look into daycare for Kiara while I'm off at study part time.
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!
Wow Kerrylea: thats a late night with a busy next day planned, but yay for assignment done!! :( about your laringitus hope you feel better soon!
bridget: Charlotte's bedtime is 7pm when i can stretch her that late, but she's often in bed anytime from 6pm. However a 7pm bedtime usually means a 6:30 wake up, whereas 6pm meand a 6am wakeup, so less impressed lol. Heh and not at all stressed by your comment - she actually doesnt seem little, until you pop her near someone else her age (as most are bigger) but shes in perfect proportion (and im enjoying getting good use out of her clothing this time LOL)
Aethalia: looks pretty :)) And sounds exciting about your website :)
Bunny: They certainly do grow at their own pace! While Charlotte was smaller at birth, she's also currently smaller than dear Jasmine, and im not stressed, as shes happy.
Blondie and Mango: jealous that your girls are sleeping at daycare! My little miss is either the lightest sleeper in the world (which we've never noticed at home) or the nosiest little tart that doesnt want to miss out - because her sleeps are TERRIBLE there.
Thursday: had a 10 min morning nap, and a 45 min afternoon nap
Friday: a 20 minute morning nap, and a 5 YES 5 minute afternoon nap.
And she's there 8:15am (ish) till 3:30/4pm. I dont know how she copes as at home she has about 1.5 hours in the morning and 2-3 hours in the afternoon. I kind of hope next week with her being fulltime, she'll get so tired she gives in and actually sleeps!
jules YAY!!!!!
Kali: i wouldnt worry if i was you, seeing you post what she eats and just how busy she is, id say she burns lots of it off at the moment.
Luke is crawling since yesterday and jacjac got to witness it as well now he is off after everything.
I have a Job Interview on Tuesday and I'm so excited hope I get the Job I applied for fx.
Also met the other carer today and it was a total no go the House was messy and I just think Luke will be bored there. Meeting another Lady next week if its not good as well I will put him in Daycare til End of April and then start Jemmas in May with the Lady I met on Wednesday. Already went to the Daycare in Town and they dont have a Waiting List I have him on the Waiting List at ABC but they are full til April but I need him to start Mid March will see.
About the Weight I worry as well that I dont feed him enough but cos he is a shocker with putting on weight and even losing and now with him crawling its not getting better. But like u all said they come in different shapes and sizes and he is so happy that he will be okay.
Kerry hope u feeling better soon and good on you for going to the Docs.
Aethalia yay for ur stash of MCN I so want some but thats a no go at the moment hopefully when I go back to work I will get some.
Kali good luck for ur DH that he gets the Job when are u having ur NT Scan wow the last 6 weeks went so fast since ur Ticker said 4 weeks.
Maisey haha Luke is doing the same thing as K he is now sitting in his Cot when I put him down but I dont want to get a Safe T Sleep hope he will get over it .
Shelly sorry to hear that Ireland is not working for u guys but yay on moving to Aussie jealous much.
Raining here and its forecast for tomorrow as well so its a quiet one for us hope the weather gets better on Sunday so we can go to the Beach.
Have a good long weekend to the North Island Girls who have a Holiday on Monday cos of Auckland Anniversary.
WHoah - I was way off with my guess of what Zoe was at 8 months - I thought 7.75kg, but a whold kg out! Oh well, as I say they come in all shapes and sizes, just like real people. PN wasn't worried, especially as she's met DH!!
Kerry hope you are feeling better soon and yay for getting assignment away. Enjoy your chill time.
FX about the job for your DP Kali and your too Bee. Good luck for the interview! Was great catching up the other day
No big plans for the long weekend here. We had HEAPS of rain lastnight. We live next to a man made lake and it has majorly flooded. The island in the middle and pretty much gone under and the water level is right up close to the houses. Eeek.
