Topic: ARGH! *insert scream of frustration* Posted: 30 April 2008 at 6:58pm |
So my crappy day just got even crappier. I've been grumpy all day for no good reason other than that I CAN be, but then I took the gremlins for their 6-monthly grommet check this afternoon and it looks like Sienna's ones have bloody fallen out already
They are supposed to last 18 mths, the specialist did warn us that we'd probably need to have them redone coz they were so young when they got them, but not this soon! Argh! And it means I have to address the fact that for the past few weeks I have been suspecting that she isn't hearing so well - I've been blaming it on temperamental toddlerdom
So back to the specialist next week to decide on a course of action. I do still hold out faint hope that they are still in and the GP just couldn't see them, but she had no probs seeing Mercedes' ones...

Probably It all makes sense, but how on earth did they both fall out without me noticing? Not that I'd know what they looked like? Maybe she ate them...

Kellz is right, you would never have noticed. Conor had his sucked out when he was 10 or 11. They lasted 9 years!

Bummer, hopefully the GP just couldn't see them, because i guess you don't really want her to have to get more put in when they are meant to last 18 months.

Our Dr down here said the only place you would see them would be if the fall out when their sleeping.
Funny I'm sure we got told that our would last around 8mths or so.

We were def told 18 mths coz they had to have 6 mthly reviews by the GP then see the specialist again in 18 mths.
Which reminds me, poor Sienna is also due for her next MCU (catheter xray) for her kidney, now that is gonna be fun Poor wee thing!

Ew yuck, the poor girl, I still have nightmares from when Ash had hers. I couldn't even imagine her having one at this age

Eeekk Ashleigh was about 7 months and that was bad enough. Well hopefully she does what Ash did and just pee constantly so the actual xray part only took about 10 mins or so. The quickest one they had ever done apparently!

Sienna slept thru her 6 week one, the 9 week one wasn't so great. She's had catheters since (like every time she gets a fever) but thats only for like 20 seconds to get a urine sample.

Mine used to constantly fall out when I was a kid.
The last lot lasted a while and I think I had them removed... they looked like tiny cotton reels.
Hope the next ones stay in!!

I remeber one of Andrew's fell out after 9 months and then the other was taken out and then ear infections started again.
I didn't even see it when the one fall out, but when he took the other one out I saw it. A tiny blue cotton reel. I'm surprised you weren't shown what they look like before they went in. our spec has them in his rooms to show parents what they are.
