Topic: argh!! no veges Posted: 08 May 2008 at 6:23pm |
my son is getting really bad with his eating... He used to be so good and its frustrating me that he wont eat them. .Ive posted this be4 and got lots of ideas and tried these but nothing works..
Im worried hes not going to be getting all his vitamins from his veges.. Hes not on formula either as he drinks normal milk well..
OKay he is sick at the moment with the flu but that aside he still refuses to eat them... every other day...

Miss M can be sodding fussy too!! Drives me up the wall....I don't really have much other advice other than to keep offering them, that's all we do. She also doesn't get any dessert unless she actually finishes most of her dinner, if she just plays around then tough luck. She seems to be getting the idea fast!

Alyssa won't eat veges either but will at least attempt them if they have gravy on them...I didn't see the original thread, but I imagine you probably already tried that anyway? Oh yeah, and I think someone else said their toddler will eat veges in tomato sauce...I haven't tried that myself yet but might give it a go.. Good luck.

It must be a little comforting to know your toddler isn't the only one that makes meal times frustrating by not eating his veges.
We too have the same problem, except ours it to the extreme where he also doesn't eat fruit. He's ALWAYS refused fruit, right from 5months. I try every week but to no avail.
He eats parsnips, carrot and kumera puree fine, or pumpkin and potato mash but no greens. And seeing as though his intake of veges is mainly orange vege, he started turning yellow from an excessive amount of beta carotene so I'm back at square one and hesitant to give him his fave veges.
Good luck, sorry no advice here. But big hugs, I know how frustrating it can be!

Don't worry about it. I know thats hard to do, but eventually he will eat them. Alex is 2 and a half, and he still hates most vege. We just went 4 weeks without him eating any! He is also bad with meat. He wont even try it, so his diet consists of fruit, dairy, and crackers! I give him toddler milk occaisonally so boost his vitamin/nutrient intake. You could try that, atleast then you know he is getting more goodness. The one vege he will eat at the moment is corn on the cob, I think because it quite fun! You could try that. Good luck... and don't stress, toddlers are fussy, and stubborn, and hopefully they will all grow out of it!

Oh, and another thing, toddlers are grazers. It's too long for them to go between 3 main meals a day, so they need snacks. We find that Alex will eat when he wants, not when it lunch time or dinner time (fair enough), so he has his own plate, that I put about 5 or 6 different foods on in the morning, and leave out. During the day he usually eats all of it. He is a real grazer, will eat small amounts all day long. But atleast then he is eating, and we don't have big wars at dinner time anymore!

Oh Rhyley is the same at the mo - although just letting him have vegies as inger food sometimes works.
What I have found is 'Bubble and Squeak'... thats mashed potatoes with vegies in it (carrots, peas and corn) made into a patie and grilled. he loves them I cut them in bite size peices and he feeds himself.. and there you have the vegies
