I can't get over my sister-in-law/really good friend.

It is the middle of calving and her calf feeding helper told her that she was leaving last week. So an SOS call was made to my mum ( they own 1/2 the farm) for her to go down to the farm and help out.

She has been there a week and has a week to go, but while she has been there, she has been looking after my friends 22 month old, her grand daughter which she loves to pieces, but on a regular basis, while my friend goes to get her haircut etc. It just seems like she is using mum to go and do all these things, and the thing that really peeves me off is that she hasn't bothered to put an ad in the paper to find a replacement!!! Mum has her own business to run, the B&B in Akaroa... and has told mum that she won't find any, but how the heck do you know if you don't advertise!!

My mum is out of there next week and told me she can't wait! It's not like she doesn't get on with my sister in law, treats her like a daughter and all, but really, get over yourself and put an ad in the paper!

Sorry for the rant. I know that all of you can understand my frustration

There is a new message at the end of this thread.. the latest on what is happening... or has happened!

oh come on - my older sister fed all the calfies on their very large farm every season with 2 kids, she ven lugged the huge pails of milk from the shed to the calfies 2 times a day.   She's a farmer girl - tell her to suck it up!

This is part 2 of what I had said at the beginning of the thread.....

I phoned mu mum as she went home yesterday and I said, wow you sound tired. And she was as she told me that basically my sister in law made her do EVERYTHING.

I was soooo mad... if my sis in law wasn't a friend I would go and give her a piece of my mind. So what if she is 9 weeks preggers, her AARRRSE hasn't broken.

Mum had to help with the calves, cook tea, clean, look after her her 22 month old and worst of all, bath her while my sis in law sat on the couch and watched Shortland St!!!!! How bad is that?? Another thing while we are here... on this ranting subject, she doesn't change her daughters nappies all day like from 9am - 5pm.. imagine sitting in that wee allllll day, I feel so sorry for my niece.

Sounds like your SIL is taking advantage, but unless you want very unhappy families, its up to your mum to say no.

Although personally I'd love to have someone who can come help out around the place, while I get things done. Sadly I'm on my own and have to get on with it.
