Lucy has been waking up every morning on the dot @ 5.30 am, and has done number 2's... then we put her back to bed and she doesn't go back to sleep, but cries and wants to get up... this is driving us bananas, this morning it was 5.15am!! Any suggestions about how to get her back into a normal routine? this one has been going on for about 1 month. She has a morning sleep about 10ish, if I can hold her off until then, we are meant to going to the doctor this morning for a check up @ 9.30am, not sure if she is going to be awake for that even, and don't want to ring the doctors as the receptionist is getting cranky with me for changing the appointment all the time!! !

is she pooping at that time of the morning? maybe it is one that she does earlier and wakes her up when it starts to irritate her. cause you could check before you go to bed and change her then if thats the case.
if she is waking cause shes pooped then there is prob nothing you can do till she changes her poop time.

Put her back to bed with a book?

I don't like your Dr's receptionist lol. Perhaps she could have a short nap at 9am (not the receptionist hehe) or do something 'restful' together this morning.

I think that we have been too soft on her, as we used to tell her firmly to go back to sleep and she would for about 1 hour. My doctors receptionist needs to take a chill pill, as yesterday I cancelled our 9am time and she said "we could have filled that spot 10 x over", I rang @ 8.30am aswel, get over it lady!

We tell Bria "it's still night-time, have some more sleep"

I agree tell her is still night time and when you go in to change her try not to talk or just say "shhh daddy is sleeping because it's still night time or sleep time".

I think it's probably the poo thats waking her so maybe if you give her some tinned pears with her lunch and maybe that will help her to poo sooner in the day.
Miya was pooing about 10pm everynight and waking up so I gave her pears with lunch for two days and now(2mths later) she poos after lunch, however sometimes that wakes her in her afternoon sleep.

It sounds to me like it's the poos that are waking her as well. Especially as she gets older, it's good for her to be aware of her bodily functions and if she's uncomfortable with poo in her nappy, this might be a good thing for future toilet training! Emma Rose is like this, in that she wakes up screaming if she's done a poo in the middle of the night, and won't go back to sleep until she's changed.

If you can't change her bowel movement habits -- which you might be able to do, by changing what she's eating and when -- then maybe you can just quietly get up, without talking to her, and change her nappy gently and swiftly, and put her back to bed -- again, without any talking or interaction, except maybe just to tell her it's not time to wake up yet. It might take several attempts at this, but hopefully with repetition she'll get the message and might stay in bed or even go back to sleep on her own. It's what I've been doing with Em when she wakes with a poo and then wants to stay up and play, and it took two long weeks of me doing the same thing over and over, but now she will go straight back to sleep after a nappy change.

And your doctor's receptionist sounds like mine -- scary! When we went for Em's pneumococcal vaccine, she was so rude to us that after the vaccine, I asked the nurse if we could just wait in the examination room instead of having to go back to the reception area for the 20 minute post-jab wait. When she asked why, I told her I'm scared of the receptionist, and she admitted that lots of patients say the same thing! LOL

Thanks so much for all of your advice, yes will try the pears, lucy loves pears, and telling her to go back to sleep, after we have changed her, I was talking to my doctor this morning and she said that Lucy might just be an early morning waker!

We bought Maya a digital clock and she knows she's not allowed out til it says 7.00 but I'm guessing Lucy's not quite up for that just yet
I agree with trying the pears trick to get her pooping a bit earlier. Will she have a catnap if you put her in bed with you? If Maya woke too early I used to put her in with me until I was ready to get up. Only if it was after about 5.30amish tho coz I didn't want to end up stuck co-sleeping with her.
