Neosha was up most of the night crying quite badly I assumed it was teething because she felt really hot but today she is still crying and lathargic and feels really hot. I took her temp it was 38.6! I took mine and it was 36.3.

Should I make the appointment or will I get told
"it's just a virus" im a little new at this but the temp seems really high?

Help?

I gave her pamol about 40mins ago after the temp reading and just took it again and it's still 38.6 as for spots or rashes the only thing I can find is two little dots on her legs.. just look like bites or something so nothing out of the ordinary there.

Just leave her at home and see how she goes. We only take Daniel after we have given pamol and if that doesn't work a couple of hours later giving fenpaed because that's all they do in hospital. If that works then he stays home. He's had a temp at 40.1 before.

Yeah I am just stressing because I had alot of kidney problems as a kid and my temps went right up to 41, im sure she is fine and im stressing for no reason.

She drank all her milk so that's a good sign.

We generally find its the combo of pamol and fenpaed (baby nurofen) that gets rid of fevers.

Yeah if shes drinking thats really good

If she's waking for feeds and still getting wet and dirty nappies, the fever doesn't last for more than 3 days and the symptoms don't get worse, I'd just keep an eye on her at home.
Of course, if you're feeling worried or feel that she's not right, definitely go and see your Dr.
Our rule of thumb with fevers is 39 + is straight to the Dr or 38 + with other worrying symptoms, off to the GP.
Hope she's all better soon!

We were told to give pamole every 6hrs and fenped every 8 hrs...using them together always helped keep it under control...thats what my ds gets...fevers.

I took her to the doctor she started refusing fluids and hasn't had any for the past 3 hours.
They think she has a gastro bug

Sometimes when pamol doesnt' appear to be working, phoning up the dr & asking what the dosage is for their current weight can help. You might not be giving enough to be affective.
