Hehehe "Flossy Bunny" goosey? Did you make up that nick-name or did the ticker do it for you? Cute!

lol, she got called Bunny for the first few days (can't remember why but she really is like a wee bunny) and then fluffy because her hair is all fluffy. Then i started calling her Floss and so now she is "flossy bunny".

Not many babies to arrive now - not long to go for those still waiting! Hang in there!
*Warning: rant follows...*
I've had a lousy week. 2 1/2 yr old has had chicken pox this week so have been stuck at home with him - clingy, miserable, needing constant hugs ... and he hasn't enjoyed the attention I've had to give bub. It's really hard to cuddle him when bub is crying for a feed! Which boy do I pay attention to first? He's taken to smacking bub in the face anytime he gets near him, or pushing bub's bassinet around when bub is trying to sleep. I've just started to shut bub in a bedroom to sleep to protect him from his older brother.
My Mum tries to help where she can, but my Grandma collapsed last weekend and has been in hospital all week so Mum has had to look after her this week, feeding her pets, etc. A family friend also passed away on Monday, and her funeral was yesterday, but I couldn't go with a newborn and an active toddler to take care of. Soo not fair!
I've only just chosen a name for bub - Caleb Alan (Alan is my Dad's name). It took over 2 weeks to decide! I feel like I haven't had the time or head space to think of a name. Guess my priorities have been all screwed up.
I hate breastfeeding, I'm tired, don't know what to do about my toddler beating the baby up ... blah blah blah. Midwife suggested I take more evening primrose tablets 'cos they're a mood stabiliser or something.
Sorry, I've got no one else to rant to. Can't tell Mum how I'm feeling 'cos she'll just feel bad that she hasn't come over more often, but she's got enough on her plate. I feel better now:)
This too shall pass ...

KirstyO, that sucks babe! Totally understandable to want to rant, toddlers are difficult at the best of times but when you've got a newborn it's even harder. Do you drink herbal teas? Try St John's wort, it's a natural anti depressant. I think you can take it in tablet form too?
Nothing wrong with locking the baby in a room to keep it away from #1. I had to when i had a shower the other day, DD wouldn't leave #2 alone and i just don't trust her not to poke at her eyes or drop stuff on her. She's already given her a nasty cold because she was kissing her full on the mouth when she had a runny nose. grrr... she doesn't like her breastfeeding either. She insists on hugs at that time and i have to do some great yoga moves to keep feeding and provide a hug for her. She also says "no boob, no!!" sometimes when i pick up the little one. Guess she doesn't love having a baby around as much as we thought??

Oh KirstyO so sorry to hear your woes, but glad you have a forum to come and rant on...rant away anytime!
Are you by yourself (i.e. is DP/H not around?) Sounds like you're having a tough time of it, and lots of random things are contributing to it being even tougher - falls, death, etc. I hope you have some friends or other family members you can call on for help - failing that, ring plunketline or something? Maybe they'll have some advice of where you can get some help from (i.e. barnardoes or something who might be able to come and entertain toddler so you can have some time with baby or a rest or whatever?)
Make sure you keep talking to people though, and yep take whatever you need (that you're allowed!) to help you get through. I haven't been there yet, but they tell me being a mum is the hardest job in the world! Stick with it lovely, I'm sure there'll be some sunshine some time soon

Oh dear, Kirsty! I hope things settle down for you soon. My nan was very sick when I had Jody and I too found it hard not having my mum to help. Mum had come over from Perth (to NZ) especially to help out but my nan found out she had cancer just days before mum's arrival. We had our very emotional times then and I couldn't imagine having to go through it with a toddler as well!
Interesting about the EPO capsules, I never considered taking them after baby is born but I guess it's a good idea for all mums really.
Huge cyber hugs! Feel free to have a vent in here whenever you need to xx

I will definitely be having a baby this week one way or the other!
Baby movements have slowed down and I feel like s/he is getting ready to roll. Going to go on the CTG this arvo, then see the Dr tomorrow then get induced on Wed if baby doesn't show up by then.
I do like alarming the locals when they ask when I'm due though

Can't believe it - the boys have *almost* caught up!! Sadly it is September now...so our baby run is pretty much over, but I know there's at least 2 of us "August" mummies to give birth!!

I had my surprise girl, Shelbi Anne on tues 30/8 went into labour naturally, narrowly getting in before induction date.
It was an intense 4hr labour and her shoulders got stuck but with a bit of tugging from a strong MW Shelbi popped out. A mighty 10lb 7oz.
I can't sit down yet

Thought I'd better update with baby news! Tobie arrived on 28 August at 3.40pm ... it was an incredibly rough 3 days from the first pains to the eventual emergency c-section. I went straight from the latent labour to full on labour without a break.
Anyway, we are home now and muddling our way through everything. I can't believe how tired I am, nothing prepares you for that. DH has been my absolute rock He is so amazing with Tobie.
Kirsty - I hope things settle down for you really soon.
Congrats to the other new arrivals.

I'll update too :D
Teagan Rose entered the world in a hurry at 1:58am on the 29th of August. After having early labour all day (nothing painful) and then being checked at the hospital at around 11pm and electing to go home at just past midnight having been told nothing much would happen until she descended. Returned at 1:30am with intense contractions and had her out within the half hour lol.
Shes a wonderful feeder/sleeper, and while the lack of sleep can be hard I'm really enjoying being a mummy to a newborn again. Kiara is loving being a big sister and is extremely gentle with her little sister and loves giving her cuddles, kisses and pats on the head.
|
Kiara is 3 and Teagan is 2, now we're expecting our long awaited 3rd!
