Topic: Babies born In Caul Or with a Veil Posted: 23 January 2009 at 3:17pm |
Hi there, I was just wondering how many if any of you mums have had or know of someone who's baby has been born this way?
My son was born this way and unfortunately I have no pictures of it as my birth was way to fast. I've been researching it abit on line and it's quite out of it reading. I'd never heard of anything like this before until my son was born...
It's said that through many belief systems it is held that being born with a veil/or in caul is a sign of psychic abilities, good luck or a special destiny... Has anyone experienced this...
I'd love to hear your stories...

Apparently sailors believe that someone born in caul is unable to drown. There are lots of superstitions like that around it.
Very cool, as it's rather unusual - bummer that you didn't get any pics!

My son was born that way. Funny thing is that my waters broke which started my labour, but obviously not completely as the sac sealed up again and he was born in it.
My midwife said it's a lovely way to cushion the birth - I had no tears, don't know if that was why. We don't have any photos, but I do remember it as I was using a mirror at that point. It took quite bit of force on her part to break through it actually!
I like to think my boy's special, but then I'd think that anyway.

My mum has said that I was born in a veil but from what I have read, a veil or caul covers just the face whereas my whole body was covered.
Yep, they say that sailors and pilots etc. would take them with them for luch etc.
I'm not psychic though. Or maybe I am and I just don't know it yet.....

Jack_&_charli i saw that vid on utube, It's amazing aye?
My son was born fully in his unbroken bag.... My DP was some what stumped as I told him that when I go into labour my contractions would start and then my waters would break and then the baby comes out but in my case I went into labour baby came out and then the waters were broken, LOL, but he seemed to have missed the part where the waters were broken on the bed coz I think he was in shock after seeing his son being born covered like that, LOL.... He still to this day asks me where the water went, Hehehe....

my second baby, maia, was born with the waters still intact. it was quite weird because when i was pushing my mw asked if i could feel the head coming down and when i felt i was like "what the f*** is that?!!" it sure didn't feel like a head to me!
when i was watching that video i had maia on my lap staring hard out at the computer and i couldn't help wondering if she's classed as 'mature audiences' lol.

My DD was born with her face half covered in the sac, and she has read my mind a couple of times - eg I was thinking hard about how I would make her birthday cake (a bear) and she stopped feeding, looked at me and said "bear"
do do do do do do do do (you know the freaky music)

Dj being a psychic is one of the things a child who's been born in Caul or with a veil could have the ability to do especially girls.... (Thats what I read on one site)....
I did'nt even know my son was born in Caul until one of the attending MW's told me... Im a strepB carrier and I asked if my son was at risk of contracting GBS & bcoz my labour was so fast there was no time to put a line in nor did we have time to get the camera out of the bag by the time i was wheeled into the delivery room and transfered onto the delivery bed my DP took my undies of and wham bam he was out, anyway when I queried it the Mw's told me that my son was born in his bag which was still intact & the MW had to brake it open on the bed so there was no threat of GBS being passed onto him as he was already out before my bag got broken...Now that I think about it I pushed him out really quick and it did'nt hurt as much as my other babies when they started coming down the birth canal....
