Okay so I'm currently in the early stages of pregnancy. I have previous children but this is my partners first.
We got into a heated argument about my cat that sleeps on our bed at night that ended in silence and has never been continued but is not resolved.
He says the cat cant sleep in our room when baby comes. I have always coslept but this time will be using those safer cosleeping cribs that attach to the bed. I tried to explain that it would be rare for a cat to suffocate a baby and that the cat wanting to lick milk off the babies lips is a myth which I couldnt get through to him. I do accept it's a warm place where a cat might like for warmth. I think the risk is low given the cat has her designated spot on the end of the bed and being so close to the baby and being a light sleeper with a baby waking up through the night...I'm going to notice. I am acknowledging his fears even though I believe they are irrational which I know could well be debated here.

Do bassinets exist with a cover in nz? Ruins my whole safe cosleeping way though... I need some ideas. I just could never get my babies to sleep without cosleeping in the past and when I coslept they were a dream. But finding a safe way to have baby and the cat both in the room we sleep in might prioritize as I can see myself shedding alot of tears when my cats outside wondering why we wont let her in.

My cat used to be wild and I tamed her and after a few years she discovered how nice inside life is. She is a super friendly but timid girl and only has her routine of coming to bed at night...she waits at the door to be let in at night and wants our early in the morning. She doesnt trust being in the rest of the house very often and stays away in the day. As tamed and smoochy as she is shes not the same as a normal cat. It's like taking away the best part of her life and our connection. Shes my baby too and I've put so much work into her that shes unrecognizable from the wild cat I caught about 4 years ago.

I'm not trying to be selfish and I want a solution that solves everyones issues. I'm hoping theres a good product out there that might be useful to purchase but cant find one
