Just a question about dirty nappies...

Sienna has been really unsettled and grumpy all day and tonight she did a massive poo. It was quite dark in color but what disturbed me a bit was that it had black flecks in it like coffee grounds and was quite 'stringy' if that makes sense? She's been feeding fine, in fact taken 2 bottles at every feed today like she is really hungry. She's having about 75% breastmilk and 25% formula

Is this normal? Really, really, really, really (and I mean REALLY!) not wanting another trip to the doc, and especially not the hospital, but of course she waited till 5.30pm to poo when our GP was closed so I couldn't even run it by them.

ETA: I was a bit naughty and had a 'diversion' from my dairy free diet on Tues to take Maya to Pizza Hut, could that be a reason for it? I was never dairy free with Maya and she had allergies but her poos were always normal till around 6-7 mths...

Hmmm, I think I remember getting myself a bit worried over a similar "output" when Han was younger and she was fine. My suggestion is only worry if she is still grumpy for an unknown reason or she does a few more like that... Probably fine tho - stop stressing

Ashlee had the same 'output' too when I was breastfeeding. I didn't worry too much about it when it was just flecks, but then it completely changed to the dark colour. Now, I have NO idea what was wrong because I didn't take her to the doc to have it checked or anything. She was extremely unsettled, bloated, went stiff ALL the time, trapped wind etc. I wasn't watching my diet or anything and I started to wonder if it was something I was eating. Switched to formula (for various other reasons as well), and voila, it all went back to normal. So I think it was something in my diet that just wasn't agreeing with her (BUT then again, who knows?!). Possibly just the change in diet

I wouldn't have a clue Emma, take her to the Doc tomorrow if she's still unsettled? What a bad time of year to have to go visit Docs

Well I have decided to do a little investigating of my own, and taken them 100% off the breastmilk and put them onto the Neocate. And it's not looking good for my breastmilk so far - day one on the formula the girls were evil, feral creatures that screamed for hours on end (which may have been my milk passing thru their systems), day two today they are much more settled, have actually SLEPT for three hours between feeds without waking to scream, and no more of the smelly wind they have been passing.

So it seems like my breastmilk is some toxic stuff! I am still expressing and freezing all the milk just in case it's just a fluke and they go feral again - then I'll know it's not my breastmilk. And if they stay settled for a few days I will reintroduce the breastmilk and see what happens.

I guess the tricky thing is that I am avoiding dairy and eggs coz they were Maya's allergies, but the twins could be allergic to other things as well/instead of those which I am still having.
