Topic: Back from natural fertility specialist Posted: 16 September 2008 at 6:47pm |
DH and I went to see the Natural Fertility specialist today, I had my GP run some blood tests for me prior to the appointment so that we had a base to start from rather then just a "meet-and-greet" appointment. It turns out that I have been pregnant, most likely back a few months ago when I had that constant metallic taste and my breasts started getting bigger and more painful since that cycle, the breast veins etc etc, but I miscarried. I may have in fact had several miscarriages that never got to implant or implant firmly. This is not as bad as it sounds because we know what's most likely going on. I have an autoimmune problem, and it's causing my body to reject the fertilized egg, it's being over protective. I have a new regime of supplements to take and hopefully this will all be sorted out in the next few months!
So I'm glad to know that there is a reason and that there are solutions, but sad to know that I've had at least one miscarriage, but at least I know that DH's sperm know which way to go and how to catch the egg

Good luck with your treatment Tracey.
I'm 12 days in on my natural fertility treatment and it has already made a huge difference to my cycle

Thanks girls. I was pretty crushed when she mentioned the miscarriages, and it was such a quick statement, like ripping off a bandaid. DH and LG just moved on past it and I felt like crying, but I held it back and just moved on with them, but sat there for the rest of the consultation thinking about it.
Glad to provide you some quality reading Amber, I can't believe how far along in your pregnancy you are, your just about ready to pop!
Toni, glad to hear that things are going well for you, gives me hope
Chelle, I'm seeing a woman in Mt Eden, I can't for the life of me remember the name of the clinic though.
Oh, has anyone had the HSG (?) scan, the one where they see if there are any blockages in your tubes? I have to have that done too and just wanted to know how others found the experience. I've heard it can be painful.
Well, I've taken my first batch of supplements and now it's so time for bed.

Thats great that things will now be moving forward in a positive way.
Can I ask what tests were taken to find out that you had been pregnant in the past? I find that quite interesting.
Oh, and as for the scan, I'm sure there was a thread about this awhile ago. But like you, not too sure of the name of the procedure so wouldn't even know what to start searching for in the threads.....but I do remember them talking about blocked tubes etc. So if you find the name, you might be able to search in here.

Hey Nefertiti, I see your little pee is still progressing along nicely :)
The tests were blood tests and there was a cardiollpin or something like that. The levels should be at around 5 for normal and mine were 3 times that. That, plus my chart from a few months back and a few other puzzle pieces all added up.

Thanks for that Tracey. I remember a friend and I talking last year about trying to find out if she had miscarried and we both weren't aware of any tests.
Yep, little pea still growing. I have another scan tomorrow, just because I am a paranoid mummy!
I really hope to see a BFP from you really SOON!
